Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly eager to seal the transfer of in-form Liverpool star Mohamed Salah as he nears the end of his contract.

The Egypt international is one of the finest players in world football and could undoubtedly do a job for Barca, even if he is now 32 years of age and possibly past his peak.

Still, Salah’s form this season has been superb and he’s showing no sign of slowing down as he’s already in double figures for both goals and assists, with Barcelona’s Laporta already making some effort to secure a deal, according to Fichajes.

Liverpool favourites to land 24 G/A superstar!

Salah looks like he could be an absolutely terrific signing on a free, especially as he’s showing signs of being able to keep on performing at the highest level for a few more years.

Barcelona already have 36-year-old Robert Lewandowski on their books, and there seems every chance Salah could also be a top performer at the highest level in Europe at that age as well.

Mohamed Salah transfer saga hotting up

Barcelona’s interest is hardly surprising and is surely a major wake-up call for Liverpool, who need to do what they can to get Salah’s new contract sorted as soon as possible.

The Reds will surely find it close to impossible to replace the former Roma man, who has established himself as a club legend and also one of the finest attacking players of the Premier League era.

Salah may feel he’s achieved all he can in English football, so Barcelona might be a tempting destination for him, even if there’s also been some talk of a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Plenty of big names have gone to Saudi in recent times and perhaps Salah will be the next, though it arguably seems like it would be a waste of talent as he’s got plenty more to do for a top European club in the next few years.

Mohamed Salah has admitted that he wants to “win it all” with Liverpool this season in what could be the superstar’s last campaign with the Merseyside club.

The Egypt captain is out of contract at Anfield in 2025 and there is a possibility that the 32-year-old could leave at the end of the season, although contract talks are ongoing with the winger.

Barcelona are one club looking to pounce on the Premier League star’s situation ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window but the move is out of the Catalan club’s hands.

Salah has been with Liverpool since 2017 and has had a legendary career with the Premier League giants. The former Roma star has won every trophy possible with the Reds and on a personal level has racked up 366 appearances for the Merseyside outfit, scoring 221 goals and assisting a further 99.

The Egyptian would not have been able to achieve this without hard work and the winger’s elite mentality was on show during a recent interview.

Speaking in the latest instalment of the Reds Roundtable presented by Standard Chartered on the Liverpool YouTube channel, Salah admitted that he wants to “win it all” this season and that he hates the “idea that we are underdogs.”

When asked what his ambitions for the 2024/25 campaign are, the 32-year-old said: “Win it all. In my opinion, I work so hard every day, I hate the idea that we are underdogs.

“We have an incredible group… In each position, you’re gonna find players that are really one of the top three in the world.

“So, why we don’t win it? This city and this club has to always fight for everything.”

Can Liverpool win it all this season?

Liverpool have made a very impressive start to life under Arne Slot and the early indications is that the Reds can indeed win everything this season. The Merseyside club sit top of the Premier League after 11 matches and have won all their matches in the UEFA Champions League.

It will be a very difficult task to win the quadruple as no club has ever achieved that feat but it is fair to say the fans of the club would be happy with another Premier League title.

Mohamed Salah is one of several stars Barcelona are considering a move for in 2025 as the Catalan giants look to capitalise on the winger’s contract situation at Anfield.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and so far, there has been no sign of the Premier League club reaching an agreement with the Egypt captain.

Discussions over a new contract are currently taking place but both parties remain far apart.

This will be a major worry for Liverpool fans as Salah has been a major part of Liverpool’s success since moving to Anfield from Roma as part of a £34.3m deal in 2017.

The Egyptian superstar has won everything at Liverpool and has cemented himself as a legend across the 366 games he has featured in for the Reds, in which he has scored 221 goals and assisted a further 99 – and the player is not ready “to turn his back” on Arne Slot’s team.

Salah has not slowed down this season as the winger became the first player in Europe’s big five leagues to reach double figures for both goals and assists with his contributions against Aston Villa on Saturday.

This will only increase the attraction of clubs to the 32-year-old’s situation at Anfield with Barcelona one European giant ready to pounce.

Barcelona consider a move for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah

With Salah currently set to become a free agent in 2025, this is a situation that very much appeals to Barcelona given the La Liga giants’ current financial situation.

The Catalan club’s president wants to sign a superstar next summer and according to Mundo Deportivo, Nico Williams, Rafael Leão, Mohamed Salah and Leroy Sané are all on Barca’s list of targets.

Hansi Flick’s team have made a very impressive start to the 2024/25 campaign as they currently sit top of La Liga and a big part of that has been down to the form of their front three.

It doesn’t make sense for Barcelona to disrupt this by signing one of these names and it would be more beneficial to spend the money strengthening other key areas.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah reportedly still hasn’t reached an agreement over a new contract with the Reds.

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, things don’t seem particularly close either, with the reporter posting on X that the two parties still remain far apart.

See below for details from Plettenberg as he paints a rather worrying picture of the situation involving Salah at Liverpool, with the Merseyside giants perhaps now running the very real risk of losing one of the best players in the world on a free transfer, with clubs in Europe also still interested alongside those in Saudi Arabia…

Salah has been a world class performer for Liverpool for many years now and it would be close to impossible to replace the Egypt international, so LFC surely need to do everything they can to change this situation fast.

MORE *very bad* news for Liverpool fans here…!

From January onwards, Salah can start negotiating a move for next season with clubs outside of England, so Liverpool would ideally surely like to see some progress on the 32-year-old’s future in the next few weeks.

Mohamed Salah has shown he’s irreplaceable for Liverpool

Even if Salah isn’t getting any younger, he remains as dangerous as he’s always been with his pace and goal threat in the Liverpool attack.

With ten goals and ten assists in all competitions, Salah provides so much to this Liverpool team, and there is hardly anyone else at the highest level who really compares.

While it had perhaps been assumed Salah would now be heading to Saudi for the final few years of his career, it’s perhaps increasingly looking like he could carry on performing at this level for a bit longer.

Liverpool should do all they can to ensure he’s doing that at Anfield, but it really wouldn’t be that surprising to see him joining another elite European side and continuing to build on this fantastic legacy in Europe.

The latest Premier League team of the week is in, with some big names in there from Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United.

Mohamed Salah is somewhat surprisingly the only Reds player to make Troy Deeney’s line up on BBC Sport, despite Arne Slot’s side beating a strong opponent in Aston Villa to go five points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool have been absolutely superb since Slot took over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer, and Salah has undoubtedly been one of their stand-out performers, though others also surely did enough to earn a spot in this latest team of the week.

Premier League team of the week in full

Troy Deeney's latest team of the week for BBC Sport

See the image above for the team of the week in full, with Man Utd and Newcastle both getting three players each into the side.

United trio Andre Onana, Bruno Fernandes and Noussair Mazraoui were selected by Deeney, while Dan Burn, Alexander Isak and Joelinton of Newcastle all made it in.

Fernandes was certainly impressive in United’s win over Leicester City, while Isak is always a joy to watch for Newcastle, but the absence of more Liverpool players over some of these names does seem a bit harsh as they were also arguably playing stronger opponents.

Brighton also harshly overlooked in team of the week

Brighton also only had one player in despite beating Manchester City 2-1 in a superb performance.

The Seagulls fully deserved their comeback victory against the reigning Premier League champions, and yet some of their players have clearly gone a little under the radar.

Brighton’s win takes them to 6th in the Premier League table, and they’d actually be third, behind only Liverpool and Man City, if not for having an inferior goal difference to Arsenal, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.

Mohamed Salah was at his brilliant best on Saturday night as the Egyptian superstar led the Reds to a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Anfield and the winger is not ready to depart the Premier League club next summer.

Arne Slot’s men are now five points clear at the top of the Premier League and a large part of the Dutch coach’s early success at Liverpool is down the the very reliable Salah. The 32-year-old has been a sensation with the Reds since moving to the Merseyside outfit from AS Roma as part of a €39m deal in 2017.

Salah has gone on to become a legend at Anfield throughout the 366 times he has featured for Liverpool, winning every trophy possible, while contributing 221 goals and 99 assists.

The Egypt captain has not slowed down this season as the 32-year-old became the first player across the big five European leagues to register double figures for both goals and assists in all competitions on Saturday night against Aston Villa.

The winger is out of contract with Liverpool at the end of the 2024/25 campaign and with concerns amongst fans that the former Chelsea star could be allowed to leave due to his age, it is believed that is not the player’s plan.

Mohamed Salah is not ready “to turn his back” on Liverpool

Following Salah’s impressive display against Aston Villa, The Athletic’s James Pearce has provided an update on the superstar’s future.

The Liverpool journalist has admitted that all parties have remained tight-lipped over the discussions around Salah’s contract. What’s on the table is unclear compared to what the 32-year-old wants as his current deal is worth around £350,000 per week plus bonuses.

The Merseyside club are unlikely to offer the veteran star that sum of money again, but there’s no indication that the Egyptian is ready to turn his back on chasing the biggest prizes with the Premier League club with his family believed to be very happy and settled in Cheshire.

Liverpool are closing in on another victory in the Premier League, as they have now gone 2-0 ahead against Aston Villa in Saturday’s late kick-off at Anfield.

The Reds, who started the day two points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, went in front after 20 minutes when Mohamed Salah assisted Darwin Nunez for his third goal of the season. It was a classic counter-attacking goal from Arne Slot’s side, who would go five points clear with a victory, following on from Manchester City’s defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion earlier in the day.

The second goal has now arrived for Liverpool, and it’s come better late than never. This time, it’s Salah on the scoresheet, as he grabs his eighth Premier League goal of the season – again, it’s another breakaway goal, as an error in the Aston Villa defence allows the Egyptian forward to race through on ball, before showing extreme composure to finish beyond Emi Martinez.

Liverpool heading five points clear at the Premier League summit

Slot’s spectacular start to life as manager of Liverpool is set to continue. It’s about to be a fourth successive victory in all competitions, and it will also mean that Manchester City now trail their title challengers by five points.

Life will be very good if you are a Liverpool fan right now, of that there is no doubt. Aston Villa could have been a banana skin fixture, but instead, it will only be another victory for the Premier League pace-setters.

Liverpool star Mo Salah’s future with the club remains uncertain with his current contract expiring next summer and the club yet to agree on a new deal with him.

Salah has been Liverpool’s best player since he joined in 2017 from AS Roma for a fee of around £35m.

Mohamed Salah has been one of the best players in the world

Since joining, he has scored 220 goals and assisted another 98 in 365 games. That translates into an outrageous 318 goals and assists in 365 games. (Transfermarkt). It’s the sort of form and consistency that has seen him (compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.)

This season he has scored 9 and assisted 9 in 16 games across all competitions, helping the club to the top of the Premier League and the Champions League table.

With him showing no signs of slowing down, it is rather surprising that the club have let his contract situation come to this stage where he is a couple of months away from being able to enter into talks over a pre-agreement with other European clubs.

Mo Salah’s camp open to assessing other offers

The latest report from Football Insider claims that the player’s current contract situation is increasingly unlikely to be sorted until later in the season.

The report states that there is a sense that Salah and his camp are willing to assess other offers and how far clubs are willing to go to secure his services for next season and beyond. While this includes Liverpool, it also opens up the possibility of a move abroad.

It has been reported that the Egyptian star is being targeted by the Saudis, who want to make him the highest paid player in the world.

The player has previously indicated his desire to stay at Liverpool, throwing the ball in the Merseyside club’s court.

The club are also said to be keen to get his contract sorted but as things stand, a move away cannot be completely ruled out.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is facing an uncertain future at the club after entering the final year of his contract.

He has been in the form of his life this season under Arne Slot after scoring nine goals and providing nine assists in 16 matches this season.

His fine goal scoring form has helped the club to climb to the top of the Premier League and the Champions League standings.

The Egyptian attacker has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League in the past and their interest in his services remains genuine.

According to TBR Football, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and Tottenham attacker Heung min-Son are both being targeted for a move to the Middle East.

As per the report, Tottenham have decided not to offer a new contract to Son and they are only willing to exercise the option of a one year contract extension. That has not gone down well with the player’s entourage and people in Saudi Arabia have taken notice of this.

Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League’s plan for Salah is to make him the highest paid player in the world.

They want to recruit Muslim footballers to their league which also includes Paul Pogba.

Interest in Salah’s services is increasing and the longer he waits to sign his Liverpool contract, the more confident other clubs will get about signing him.

Saudi Pro League will face competition to sign Mohamed Salah

Major League Soccer, along with the Saudi League, is an option for the Liverpool attacker who could still decide to stay at Liverpool after getting impressed by the management skills of Arne Slot.

Salah is the most important player for the Merseyside club and their attack revolves around his creativity and goal scoring ability.

Football pundit Jamie Carragher is confident that the Liverpool attacker will sign a new contract at the club and continue to break goal scoring records.

Replacing him would be a difficult task but they have been linked with some of the most promising attackers in world football at the moment just in case the Egyptian decides to leave.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has discussed the situations of the likes of Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool at the moment.

It’s a bit of a worrying time for Reds fans, despite their team’s superb form on the pitch, as all three of Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are heading towards being free agents at the end of this season.

It remains to be seen if any of these three vitally important players will end up signing new contracts at Anfield, and Neville has attempted to make sense of a recent social media post by Salah.

“DEFINITELY” – Major Liverpool transfer claim just dropped! Click here to read more!

See below as Neville talks on the US edition of The Overlap called It’s Called Soccer about what Salah might have meant by his post hinting that he might be coming towards the end of his Liverpool career…

Salah may well have hinted that he’s on his way out, but Neville suspects it’s possibly a bit of a coded way of pushing for the LFC board to give him a better contract.

It may be that the 32-year-old is happy to remain at Liverpool for a bit longer, but it might take big money to convince him, or else he’ll likely be able to get a huge offer from a club in Saudi Arabia.

Should Liverpool pay whatever it takes to keep Mohamed Salah?

Liverpool fans will surely be hoping Salah stays with them a bit longer, even if there’s always a bit of a risk when giving huge money and long-term deals to ageing players.

Still, Salah doesn’t seem to be showing any sign of slowing down even after turning 32, and it could be that he’ll have it in him to enjoy a long career at the highest level like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robert Lewandowski and Luka Modric.

Salah could well still be firing in the goals for Liverpool when he’s 35 or 36, so it might be unwise for the club to lose him when he’s still got more to offer, as it will be close to impossible to replace such a prolific scorer and all-round talent.

Neville also discussed Alexander-Arnold and suggested he could still be considered a Liverpool legend even if he decides to explore a move abroad, just as David Beckham did even though he’s still considered a Manchester United legend.
