Another Brazilian talent could soon be heading to English shores, but Crystal Palace face fierce Premier League competition to land Botofogo baller, Luiz Henrique.

CaughtOffside sources have indicated the the €30m-rated ace has drawn interest from a number of top clubs across Europe but his preference is to hone his talents in the English top-flight.

Crystal Palace keen on Luiz Henrique

Fulham and Everton are also reported to be keeping tabs on the 23-year-old baller, and all three Premier League sides have had scouts at the recent Botafogo matches against Cuiaba-MT and Vasco da Gama.

Sources say that all three have been impressed with the level of the right wingers performances and could be set to test the water with an offer.

It’s understood that the Brazilian club are not prioritising his sale at present as they know that Henrique’s potential and skillset make him a valuable asset in the transfer market.

Therefore, maximising his value will be uppermost in their thinking.

Palace and Leicester warned against hiring former Man United manager

More and more young Brazilian stars are making their way to Europe to further their careers.

Endrick has lit up the Santiago Bernabeu already with brief cameos at Real Madrid, and players like Luis Guilherme (West Ham United) and Estevao Willian (Chelsea in 2025) will surely do the same in due course.

Those more experienced, such as Raphinha – now finding his feet at Barcelona – and Vini Jr/Rodrygo at Real Madrid, are a blueprint for what’s possible if youngsters continue to work hard.

It isn’t clear at this stage if Oliver Glasner will still be in place as Palace manager by the time Botafogo are ready to do business, however, there remains a link between the two clubs in John Textor.

Textor currently owns 46 percent of the Eagles and is also majority shareholder at Botafogo. Though Goal report he’s willing to sell his Palace shares, he’s likely to still have a say in any Luiz Henrique transfer.

If the South Londoners can also land one outgoing Chelsea ace and a defender with an £83m release clause as well as Luiz Henrique, it could yet be a successful 2024/25 campaign for them.

It’ll probably come as little surprise to many that Ruud van Nistelrooy is being linked with a host of top Premier League jobs.

The Dutchman is now looking for a new role after his short tenure as Manchester United interim manager came to an end.

Van Nistelrooy caught the eye after taking over from Erik ten Hag, warming up the dugout for Ruben Amorim with three wins and a draw from four matches.

United scored 11 goals in his four games in charge; two more than they managed in Ten Hag’s final eight matches.

Van Nistelrooy’s work has now seen him linked with West Ham United, who are struggling under summer arrival Julen Lopetegui.

Meanwhile, relegation battlers Wolves, Southampton and Crystal Palace are among those who are rumoured to be considering new managers. The likes of Steve Cooper and Sean Dyche are only a bad run away from coming under immense pressure at Leicester and Everton, respectively.

However, former Palace chairman Simon Jordan has warned Premier League clubs against opting for Van Nistelrooy — who won KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield titles during a 51-game spell in charge of PSV Eindhoven.

“If you are Wolves, Palace, Southampton or Leicester and you decide to change your manager, would you look at Ruud van Nistelrooy or would you look at David Moyes?” said Jordan (via TBR).

“I couldn’t see any of those clubs realistically going down the Ruud van Nistelrooy route.”

Jordan further explained: “I don’t think he’s done anything at Man Utd. Three or four games, two of them against Leicester? Against PAOK, in the Europa League? Come on, give me a break.

“I don’t think there is anyone in the Premier League who has got a serious problem is going to turn around and say; ‘You managed to get this [Man United squad] playing decently [so you deserve a chance at another club]’.”

England took a huge step toward Uefa Nations League promotion with a resounding 3-0 win away in Greece on Thursday.

Avenging their shock defeat at Wembley, the Three Lions put their hosts to the sword with goals from Ollie Watkins and debutant Curtis Jones, either side of an Odisseas Vlachodimos own goal forced by a Jude Bellingham shot that hit the post.

The result takes England top of the group, level on points with Greece but now boasting a better goal difference and head-to-head record.

Any sort of win against the Republic of Ireland at Wembley on Sunday will return England to League A at the first time of asking.

For now, read on for full England player ratings from a huge win in Athens.

England player ratings vs Greece: Curtis Jones ‘outstanding’ on debut

Jordan Pickford – 9/10 – Made some vital saves to preserve the win and clean sheet, while reminding everyone how important he is for England.

Kyle Walker – 6/10 – A little negative with his play, going backwards when he’d taken up some great positions. Slotted in well enough at centre-back in the second half.

Ezri Konsa – 7/10 – A solid performance, completing 100% of his passes and winning both of his contested ground duels. Brought off at half-time, presumably with an injury.

Marc Guehi – 8/10 – Tidy with the ball and made a couple of important interceptions and tackles to keep the Greeks at bay.

Rico Lewis – 8/10 – Used the ball brilliantly and popped up in some dangerous positions. Perhaps should have got himself on the scoresheet in the second half but was denied by a good save.

Conor Gallagher – 8/10 – Got through plenty of defensive work and did his best to drive England forward once he turned the ball over.

Curtis Jones – 9/10 – Absolute class on the ball and alert to any Greek counter-attacks. Misplaced just three of 68 attempted passes. Capped off an outstanding England debut with a beautifully taken goal. ‘Outstanding’ according to former England and Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie.

Noni Madueke – 8/10 – Set up Watkins’ goal with a great run and cut-back and was a menace all game, creating a match-high three chances and having five touches in the opposition box.

Jude Bellingham – 9/10 – The Greeks couldn’t handle Bellingham once he got into full flow, powering through midfield with immense force. Hit the post twice, first with a header, then with a shot from the edge of the box which hit Vlachodimos and went in. Unlucky not to be credited with a goal but did the damage.

Anthony Gordon – 6/10 – A few dangerous flashes but was more subdued than Madueke.

Ollie Watkins – 8/10 – Took his goal well and provided England with a good focal point, even if he was a little isolated at times.

Substitutes:

Lewis Hall (46′, for Konsa) – 7/10 – A solid England debut from a youngster with the potential to be his nation’s left-back for years to come.

Harry Kane (67′, for Watkins) – 7/10 – Did a lot of work off the ball, including his run to create the space for Bellingham’s shot on the second goal.

Morgan Rogers (67′, for Gordon) – 7/10 – Won’t be credited with an assist on the second goal but it was his smart pass inside to Bellingham that set England away.

Jarrod Bown (67′, for Madueke) – 7/10 – Did well in the build-up for the third goal.

Morgan Gibbs-White (79′, for Gallagher) – 7/10 – Set up Jones as England finished the job.

Crystal Palace have reportedly made an approach to Chelsea to ask about a potential loan transfer deal for Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Ukraine international has struggled during his time at Stamford Bridge, proving a major disappointment despite arriving with so much in the way of expectation on his shoulders after impressing at previous club Shakhtar Donetsk.

Palace have now asked about a possible loan move for Mudryk as they look to strengthen their attack after the blow of losing star winger Michael Olise to Bayern Munich in the summer, according to Football Transfers.

Chelsea have joined the race for one of the best talents in the world!

It certainly makes sense now for Chelsea to offload Mudryk, even if it is only on loan, with the Blues having plenty of other attacking options ahead of him in the pecking order such as Cole Palmer, Joao Felix, Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke.

Can Mykhailo Mudryk revive his career at Crystal Palace?

Mudryk once looked destined for a great career at the very top level of European football, so would a move to Palace really be the right one for him right now?

The 23-year-old could arguably be good enough to play for a bigger club than that, but at the same time he might also benefit from dropping down a level to somewhere with slightly lower expectations.

Palace could also surely guarantee Mudryk the playing time he needs to re-establish himself in the Premier League, and it could be that he’ll then return to Chelsea a better player.

Still, with so much in the way of competition in Enzo Maresca’s squad now, one imagines it’s more likely that Mudryk would be going on loan to Selhurst Park to put himself in the shop window to a certain extent.

It will be interesting to see how Mudryk gets on if this move goes ahead, but Palace fans would surely welcome this talented young attacker to breathe new life into their struggling side.

Ben Chilwell would appear to have no future at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca, and it’s believed that Crystal Palace have moved into pole position to sign him.

Back in September, The Sun noted the attentions of the Eagles for the left-back, who earns a cool £200,000 per week (Capology) with the Blues, and it’s understood that interest hasn’t waned.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed over the last couple of months for the player who is rotting on the sidelines at present.

Palace still hoping to land Ben Chilwell

Leicester City apparently want to re-sign their former player, whilst Newcastle and West Ham are also understood to be interested.

Clearly, he is still a commodity wanted by others, even if the West London outfit see no value any longer in a player that was once their captain.

At just 27 years of age, Chilwell will surely have a lot to offer whichever club is able to acquire his services, albeit, it may take time for him to get back up to the level required given how long he’s been out of service so to speak.

Maresca has always been honest and forthright with his views on every player, and though the Italian is a little too direct sometimes with his assessments of the relative merits – or not – of his players, none of the first-team staff can bleat about not knowing where they stand.

That’s because Maresca leaves no room for any grey areas. He knows what he wants and how he wants to go about getting it, and that’s arguably one of the main reasons why Chelsea are flying high once again in 2024/25.

Palace are doing the exact opposite and currently find themselves down in 18th place with just one win all season long.

That’s unlikely to bother Chilwell if it means that he’s played regularly and given a chance to affect the immediate future of the South London outfit.

Crystal Palace have been struggling so far this season sat as they are down in 18th place in the Premier League, and with that in mind the club are looking to shore up their defence by landing Tomas Araujo.

The Benfica man has an £83m release clause (O Jogo) and at 22 years of age, he clearly has a number of years left ahead of him before even reaching his peak as a player.

Palace want Tomas Araujo

The Eagles are expected to have competition from both Chelsea and Newcastle, and with the greatest of respect to the South Londoners, they have less to offer Araujo at this stage than either of their Premier League opponents.

Perhaps any potential switch will come down not only to what’s being offered by potential buying clubs, but also who is willing to meet the player’s own salary demands.

Palace owner, Steve Parish, has always appeared to be studious in all of his business dealings, and whilst the player’s release clause appears steep, if he feels that Palace will get value for money over the course of Araujo’s contract, it’s a deal that they could potentially do.

Alan Pardew makes relegation verdict on Crystal Palace. What did he say about his former club? Find out here!

The club clearly have problems in scoring goals too, given that they’ve only managed eight so far in this Premier League campaign.

Only bottom club Southampton have scored less (7), and any Araujo transfer may come down to what both Parish and his manager, Oliver Glasner, believe is more urgent.

With the January transfer window just over six weeks away, clubs will almost certainly be positioning themselves to be right at the front of the queue for new players.

If they can land Araujo in the new year, it would certainly signify Palace’s intent for the second half of the season, and that can only bode well for the Eagles.

Former Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has commented on his old club’s current struggles and discussed whether or not they really could be facing relegation under Oliver Glasner.

Pardew has been out of Premier League management for a while now, but still offers occasional insight as a pundit, and he’ll no doubt be interested to see how his old club are getting on.

It’s not going well for Palace at the moment under Glasner, despite the Austrian tactician making such a promising start at Selhurst Park in the second half of last season.

So could the Eagles now be facing a very real risk of going down? Pardew seems to honestly think they’ll ultimately end up having too much quality to be dragged into that bottom three.

Alan Pardew has his say on Crystal Palace

“I look at Palace. They are sitting 18th in the Premier League with seven points. Will they go down? I just can’t see it,” Pardew said.

“I mean, they have been in the Premier League for 12 years. I think they have got more than enough quality to be comfortably mid-table when we get to the end, but with the competition there is in that mid-table, who knows? I might be wrong.”

Palace need to start getting results soon, though, or else there will surely be growing concern and perhaps a need to change manager to turn things around before it’s too late.

Japanese international midfielder Daichi Kamada joined Crystal Palace at the start of the season on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old has proven his quality in Germany and Italy in the past, but his move to the Premier League has not worked out so far. He is struggling with his performances for the Eagles, and Clinton Morrison has slammed him for his poor performance in the defeat to Fulham on Saturday.

Speaking on Sky Sports, former Palace star Morrison added: “He is not a central midfielder. He is playing there as a central midfielder. At the moment, he is nowhere near good enough. He is low on confidence. It’s a terrible tackle.”

Crystal Palace were outplayed against the Cottagers, and Kamada picked up a red card for his reckless challenge on Kenny Tete.

The Japanese international will be fully aware of his mediocre performances for the Eagles and it remains to be seen whether he can bounce back strongly. He has the physical and technical attributes to do well in English football, but perhaps a change of position is needed for him to succeed.

Kamada needs a change of position

Oliver Glasner has used the Japanese international as a central midfielder and he could thrive in a more advanced role. The 28-year-old is more of an attacking midfielder, and giving him more freedom in the final third could bring out the best in him.

It will be interesting to see if Crystal Palace are willing to deploy him in the attacking midfield role in the coming months. Kamada is at the peak of his powers, and he will be desperate to prove himself in English football. If he can regain his form and confidence, he could be an asset for Crystal Palace for the remainder of the season.

Crystal Palace are keen on signing the Sunderland midfielder Chris Rigg.

According to a report from the Sun, they are plotting a £20 million plus move for the 17-year-old midfielder who has impressed in the Championship with the Black Cats. Rigg is regarded as one of the finest young talents in English football right now, and he could develop into a future star for Crystal Palace.

The player has been linked with Manchester United as well.

It will be interesting to see if Sunderland are willing to sanction his departure in the coming months. They will feel that the midfielder is likely to improve further, and he could command a bigger transfer fee in the near future. They might hold onto him for the foreseeable future.

The opportunity to play in the Premier League can be quite attractive for the young midfielder. He could be tempted to join a big club like Crystal Palace, and they could provide him with the platform to showcase his abilities in the English top flight. Ample exposure to Premier League football could accelerate his development and help the 17-year-old improve further.

It will be interesting to see if Crystal Palace step up their efforts to get the deal done. They are looking to make a move in January, having watched the midfielder several times this season.

Rigg has picked up three goals for his club this season and his numbers are likely to improve when he is playing in a better team alongside better players.

Meanwhile, the Black Cats offered the player a three-year contract last summer and they are under no pressure to sanction his departure in January. It is fair to assume that the Championship outfit will make it difficult for Crystal Palace to lure the England under-18 international away from the Stadium of Light this season.

Sunderland’s 17-year-old talent Chris Rigg is a name that is starting to become well-known amongst the big clubs in Europe as several continue to monitor the youngster’s progress in the Championship.

The midfielder has established himself as a key player in Regis Le Bris’ side and has played a big role in Sunderland’s impressive start to the season as the Black Cats currently sit top of the Championship after 14 games.

Rigg has featured in 13 of those matches, producing three goals from midfield, which follows his breakthrough season last time around, in which he netted his first two Championship goals.

Rigg has a contract at the Stadium of Light until 2027 and heading into the 2025 transfer windows, sources have told CaughtOffside that Sunderland are keen to keep their 17-year-old talent as they push for promotion to the Premier League.

However, the interest of several of Europe’s biggest clubs put the Black Cats in a difficult position to keep the midfielder as his departure could significantly impact Sunderland, both on and off the pitch.

The Championship club will seek at least €30m for Rigg in 2025 and there are several clubs who might be willing to match their asking price.

Man United and Real Madrid set sights on Sunderland’s Chris Rigg

Man United have been the club that has been linked to Rigg the most in recent weeks with reports stating that the Premier League giants’ scouts have watched the 17-year-old nearly “every week this season”.

The Manchester club will face major competition in their pursuit of the midfield talent as sources have stated that several Premier League clubs are monitoring his progress, which include: Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Brighton, Man City, Newcastle, Liverpool and Wolves.

There is also interest in the Englishman from abroad, which is the route Jude Bellingham took on his path to superstardom.

Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are all believed to have an interest in Rigg and a move to Germany could be exactly what the youngster needs in order to develop his game at the highest level.
