Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.

Journalist Christian Falk has now revealed to CaughtOffside that Arsenal are keen on signing the player and they could be an option for the German international because of their participation in the Champions League. Arsenal need more depth in the wide areas so that they can rotate players like Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are reportedly knocking on his door as well and they are a very serious option for him.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can get the deal done. They need to sign a top-quality winger and the 28-year-old is a proven performer at the highest level. He has shown his quality in the Premier League with Manchester City in the past and he has helped them win two league titles. He could be the ideal acquisition for the Red Devils and he could be an improvement on the likes of Antony.

Leroy Sane would improve Man United

There is no doubt that he would be an effective addition to Manchester United and they could use his quality and experience.

His previous experience in Premier League football should allow him to settle into life at Old Trafford quickly and make an immediate impact. Manchester United need players of his quality if they want to push for major trophies every season. It remains to be seen whether they can plug the gaps in their squad in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the player will be a free agent in the summer of 2025 and there have been rumours of a potential extension at Bayern Munich. The player currently earns around €20 million at the German club and the Bundesliga giants want to reduce his wages. They are hoping for a 25% reduction in his overall salary and it will be interesting to see if Sane is willing to accept that.

It seems almost inevitable that Viktor Gyokeres’ remarkable goalscoring form will see him land a move to an elite European outfit.

The Sweden international – currently on 27 goal contributions in 18 games in 2024/25 – signalled his talents to the world once more during Sporting CP’s 4-1 demolition of Manchester City.

With the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United understood to hold some interest in the forward, a summer transfer window move could very well be on the cards.

It just remains to be seen who will stump up the required funds to meet the 26-year-old’s reported release clause of £83m. Albeit, it’s allegedly possible that Sporting will allow their top striker to depart for as little as £61m in the summer.

Man Utd could compete with FC Bayern

With the Red Devils struggling in the goalscoring department – particularly in the English top-flight – it’s far from surprising to hear of their maintained interest in Gyokeres.

“Manchester United are big competition for Viktor Gyokeres. It’s easier, of course, for United with Ruben Amorim having swapped Sporting CP for Old Trafford,” Christian Falk informed CaughtOffside in his exclusive Fact Files column.

“Also, Bayern already have Harry Kane in the squad, so Gyokeres won’t get so much playing time in Munich, which isn’t a great argument for Vincent Komapany’s side.

“The Red Devils are also interested in another Bayern Munich target in Benjamin Sesko (so you see the club is always competing with the Premier League).”

Ranking Team Goals Scored (Premier League)

17th (joint) Ipswich Town 12

19th Crystal Palace 8

Bayern Munich have Gyokeres on their shortlist

The Bavarian giants would most certainly provide more than stiff competition for the Primeira Liga star’s services normally.

However, it’s fair to assume that a range of circumstances, not discounting the arrival of former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford, will run in Manchester United’s favour. Former Red Devils star Dimitar Berbatov certainly seems to feel that this is a distinct likelihood. He told Sky Sports that he suspects the Primeira Liga attacker, currently ‘scoring goals for fun’ in Portugal, may very well join his former boss in Manchester.

Bayern Munich, for their part, are unlikely to stand in their way, should that eventuality come to pass.

“Bayern Munich have a number of strikers on their shortlist: Omar Marmoush, Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko and Lois Openda,” Falk said.

“They’re not planning an immediate signing in the near future; it’s a list to keep in mind for the future. They are thinking about signing a striker, perhaps, in 2026. So any club that is moving now for these players has a big advantage whilst Bayern make the most of Harry Kane.”

On current form, too, Bayern Munich may very well have to accept that this top European talent is considerably likely to be snapped up by a top Premier League club in the summer.

The German reporter went on to add: Gyokeres isn’t their top target at the moment, though they are very interested in him. Bayern would prefer to see the Swede stay in Lisbon longer so that they could join the market later for him (when his contract is closer to running out and the price isn’t so high).

“The problem is that he’s playing in the same position as Harry Kane and he’s unlikely to want to stay on the bench behind the England international.

“Still, you see how highly rated he is that Bayern see him as a potential successor to Kane. It’s perhaps too early for Bayern to move in for him, but the interest is concrete.

“I would say that, perhaps, after the match against Manchester City in the Champions League, a move to the Premier League could come more quickly.”

Manchester United are confident of signing the Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan.

The 17-year-old midfielder is highly rated across Europe, and he has a bright future ahead of himself. According to TBR Football, Rosenborg have already informed the midfielder that he is free to find a new club for himself and Manchester United are optimistic about getting a deal done.

The Red Devils have been monitoring the player over the last few seasons and he is likely to cost around £10 million. The report further states that the deal could reach £20 million including bonuses. Nypan will become Ruben Amorim’s first signing at Old Trafford.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been monitoring the player as well, and they have already been in touch with his representatives. It will be interesting to see if they come forward with an offer to sign the player. It seems that Manchester United could be in pole position to secure his signature.

It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can beat their Premier League rivals and get the deal done. The 17-year-old could be a quality long-term investment for them, and he could establish himself as a key player for the club in the coming seasons.

Man United could nurture Sverre Nypan into a star

Manchester United have a proven track record when it comes to nurturing young players and they could help and fulfil his potential potential. Moving to Old Trafford will be a major opportunity for the youngster, and he will look to make his mark in English football with them. Manchester United could provide him with the platform to fight for major trophies and regular exposure to English football could accelerate his development.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be attractive destinations for the young midfielder as well, and it will be interesting to see if they follow up on their interest with an official proposal to sign the player. Both clubs need more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and the 17-year-old would be a future investment.

Bruno Fernandes believes Ruben Amorim has the potential to turn Manchester United back into title winners.

Amorim is the sixth permanent Man Utd manager since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, taking over following the sacking of Erik ten Hag and Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim spell.

Despite some cup success, the Red Devils have failed to add to their 20 English league titles since Ferguson left, watching on as the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and even Leicester City have tasted glory.

In fact, United have finished in the top two in just two of the last 11 seasons.

While a title charge won’t be expected straight away under Amorim, his long-term remit will be to return United to the pinnacle of English football.

The 39-year-old arrives with a good pedigree after guiding Sporting CP to two Portuguese titles in four years following a drought dating back to 2002. The Lions are also well-placed to add a 21st title to their collection, sitting top of the Liga Portugal table, six points clear of Porto and perfect after 11 games.

Former Sporting playmaker Fernandes is hopeful his compatriot can replicate that sort of success at Old Trafford.

“I hope he does the same here because you know sometimes a person can change the energy of a space, if it’s the right moment,” Fernandes said (via Man Utd’s official website).

“We hope that he can come, and this is the right moment for him to come and bring his energy, bring his qualities and his knowledge of football, because he’s done something really, really special at Sporting.

“If someone doubts that, it’s about just looking at the past.

“Sporting was to be about 20 years without winning the league, and he got back to win the league, and he won it two times in four years with a really youthful team, in a moment of change.

“So hopefully he can do the same here for us and [hopefully] it’s going to be a successful time for all of us.”

It’ll probably come as little surprise to many that Ruud van Nistelrooy is being linked with a host of top Premier League jobs.

The Dutchman is now looking for a new role after his short tenure as Manchester United interim manager came to an end.

Van Nistelrooy caught the eye after taking over from Erik ten Hag, warming up the dugout for Ruben Amorim with three wins and a draw from four matches.

United scored 11 goals in his four games in charge; two more than they managed in Ten Hag’s final eight matches.

Van Nistelrooy’s work has now seen him linked with West Ham United, who are struggling under summer arrival Julen Lopetegui.

Meanwhile, relegation battlers Wolves, Southampton and Crystal Palace are among those who are rumoured to be considering new managers. The likes of Steve Cooper and Sean Dyche are only a bad run away from coming under immense pressure at Leicester and Everton, respectively.

However, former Palace chairman Simon Jordan has warned Premier League clubs against opting for Van Nistelrooy — who won KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield titles during a 51-game spell in charge of PSV Eindhoven.

“If you are Wolves, Palace, Southampton or Leicester and you decide to change your manager, would you look at Ruud van Nistelrooy or would you look at David Moyes?” said Jordan (via TBR).

“I couldn’t see any of those clubs realistically going down the Ruud van Nistelrooy route.”

Jordan further explained: “I don’t think he’s done anything at Man Utd. Three or four games, two of them against Leicester? Against PAOK, in the Europa League? Come on, give me a break.

“I don’t think there is anyone in the Premier League who has got a serious problem is going to turn around and say; ‘You managed to get this [Man United squad] playing decently [so you deserve a chance at another club]’.”

England took a huge step toward Uefa Nations League promotion with a resounding 3-0 win away in Greece on Thursday.

Avenging their shock defeat at Wembley, the Three Lions put their hosts to the sword with goals from Ollie Watkins and debutant Curtis Jones, either side of an Odisseas Vlachodimos own goal forced by a Jude Bellingham shot that hit the post.

The result takes England top of the group, level on points with Greece but now boasting a better goal difference and head-to-head record.

Any sort of win against the Republic of Ireland at Wembley on Sunday will return England to League A at the first time of asking.

For now, read on for full England player ratings from a huge win in Athens.

England player ratings vs Greece: Curtis Jones ‘outstanding’ on debut

Jordan Pickford – 9/10 – Made some vital saves to preserve the win and clean sheet, while reminding everyone how important he is for England.

Kyle Walker – 6/10 – A little negative with his play, going backwards when he’d taken up some great positions. Slotted in well enough at centre-back in the second half.

Ezri Konsa – 7/10 – A solid performance, completing 100% of his passes and winning both of his contested ground duels. Brought off at half-time, presumably with an injury.

Marc Guehi – 8/10 – Tidy with the ball and made a couple of important interceptions and tackles to keep the Greeks at bay.

Rico Lewis – 8/10 – Used the ball brilliantly and popped up in some dangerous positions. Perhaps should have got himself on the scoresheet in the second half but was denied by a good save.

Conor Gallagher – 8/10 – Got through plenty of defensive work and did his best to drive England forward once he turned the ball over.

Curtis Jones – 9/10 – Absolute class on the ball and alert to any Greek counter-attacks. Misplaced just three of 68 attempted passes. Capped off an outstanding England debut with a beautifully taken goal. ‘Outstanding’ according to former England and Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie.

Noni Madueke – 8/10 – Set up Watkins’ goal with a great run and cut-back and was a menace all game, creating a match-high three chances and having five touches in the opposition box.

Jude Bellingham – 9/10 – The Greeks couldn’t handle Bellingham once he got into full flow, powering through midfield with immense force. Hit the post twice, first with a header, then with a shot from the edge of the box which hit Vlachodimos and went in. Unlucky not to be credited with a goal but did the damage.

Anthony Gordon – 6/10 – A few dangerous flashes but was more subdued than Madueke.

Ollie Watkins – 8/10 – Took his goal well and provided England with a good focal point, even if he was a little isolated at times.

Substitutes:

Lewis Hall (46′, for Konsa) – 7/10 – A solid England debut from a youngster with the potential to be his nation’s left-back for years to come.

Harry Kane (67′, for Watkins) – 7/10 – Did a lot of work off the ball, including his run to create the space for Bellingham’s shot on the second goal.

Morgan Rogers (67′, for Gordon) – 7/10 – Won’t be credited with an assist on the second goal but it was his smart pass inside to Bellingham that set England away.

Jarrod Bown (67′, for Madueke) – 7/10 – Did well in the build-up for the third goal.

Morgan Gibbs-White (79′, for Gallagher) – 7/10 – Set up Jones as England finished the job.

Manchester United are already planning for future transfer activity under the guidance of their new manager, Ruben Amorim. Reports suggest that Sporting Lisbon’s standout winger, Pedro Goncalves, is on the club’s radar for the next summer window.

Amorim, who recently signed a contract with United through 2027 earlier this month, has expressed a keen interest in bolstering the squad.

Manchester United monitoring Pedro Goncalves

According to the Mirror, the Red Devils are closely monitoring Goncalves, a player who played a vital role in Amorim’s successful tenure at Sporting.

Sporting Lisbon, however, has made their stance clear by setting an €80 million valuation on their star player, who remains contracted with the club until 2027.

Goncalves, who is currently an injury concern for Sporting, was a standout performer last season, scoring 18 goals and contributing 17 assists over 49 appearances in all competitions, aiding Sporting in securing the league title.

His impressive form has carried into the current season, where he has already netted five goals and provided six assists in 12 matches, solidifying his status as one of the best players in Portuguese football.

Amorim’s respect for Goncalves is well-documented, having praised the winger’s talent and adaptability during his final press conference at Sporting after an exciting 4-2 comeback win against Braga.

The 39-year-old manager emphasised the player’s’ potential to thrive in any team and hold his own among the world’s elite, underscoring his high-level capabilities.

Ruben Amorim will not raid Sporting in January

While United supporters may be eager to see a swift transfer, Amorim has confirmed that there will be no pursuit of Sporting players during the January window.

Nonetheless, he hinted that the summer could present an opportunity for such moves, positioning Goncalves as a key potential signing to bolster United’s attacking options.

Another player Amorim could turn to is Viktor Gyokeres, who recently scored a hat-trick against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has emerged as a serious contender for the West Ham job.

Julen Lopetegui is under pressure after a poor start to the season despite being significantly backed in the transfer market, with the club spending over £100m in the summer.

The Hammers are currently 14th in the table, having won only 3 games out of 11, drawing another 3 and losing 5.

They are also out of the League Cup, with Liverpool knocking them out of the competition with a 5-1 win in the 3rd round of the competition.

Ruud van Nistelrooy emerges as serious contender for the West Ham job

As pressure mounts on the former Real Madrid manager, speculations regarding his uncertain future and his replacement have started, with several names being linked with the job, including former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho. However, the club have been advised against appointing him.

And now, another former Manchester United coach is linked with the job. Ruud van Nistelrooy who was the caretaker manager of the club for the last few games has impressed suitors with the immediate impact he made after Erik ten Hag’s departure. He remained unbeaten in the 4 games he managed, winning 3 and drawing 1.

Despite leading a remarkable turnaround in form, he was let go once the club signed Ruben Amorim as the long-term replacement. With him now available, he has been linked with the West Ham job.

According to i News, the Dutchman is now a serious consideration for the job to replace Julen Lopetegui, whose future at West Ham is now under threat.

A long list of managers linked with the West Ham job

Apart from Mourinho and van Nistelrooy, there are several other managers linked with the job. Former Denmark manager, Kasper Hjulmand, ex-Benfica manager Roger Schmidt and Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness have all been considered as potential replacements.

Marco Silva, is another name mentioned recently, with suggestions that he would be tempted to take the job.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in the potential transfer of Flamengo wonderkid Lorran as a possible replacement for flop signing Antony.

Antony has ended up being a major disappointment at Man Utd, despite previously looking like an outstanding talent when he was together with Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

Now a report from TBR Football claims that United are possibly ready to try offloading Antony to Flamengo in a bid to land 18-year-old attacking midfielder Lorran in his place.

WATCH: Roy Keane is FURIOUS with this Man United player!

The Red Devils need to be a bit smarter with their recruitment after a difficult period post-Sir Alex Ferguson, with vast amounts of money wasted on under-performers like Paul Pogba, Angel Di Maria, Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho and Antony.

Can Man United finally get it right with Lorran transfer deal?

Lorran looks like the kind of up-and-coming talent MUFC need to be signing before other top clubs, with this Brazilian teenager surely set for a big future in the game.

Indeed, other clubs are already following him, with TBR Football adding that West Ham and Brighton are following the player, as well as European giants such as RB Leipzig, Marseille and Atalanta.

United will be hoping they can now really enter a new era under incoming manager Ruben Amorim, who will also be working under a new-look board with experienced football recruitment figures like Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox.

Lorran certainly seems like the kind of player those figures would have signed at their previous clubs, but it remains to be seen if the player himself will choose a move to Old Trafford when he might fancy his chances of getting more playing time at somewhere like Brighton or Leipzig.

Chelsea reportedly look to be the latest name to strongly enter the running for the transfer of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, along with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Sweden international has been in the form of his life since joining Sporting Lisbon from Coventry City last season, scoring a remarkable 66 goals in just 68 games for the Portuguese giants.

This has seen Gyokeres apparently attract interest from big names like Man United, as per the Daily Star, while Charles Watts has also told us about Arsenal looking at the 26-year-old.

It remains to be seen precisely what will happen next with Gyokeres as the speculation seems to change slightly almost every day at the moment, with the latest from Fichajes being that Chelsea are looking to strongly enter the race for his signature.

Chelsea could certainly do with a marquee signing up front at the moment as Nicolas Jackson hasn’t been entirely convincing during his time at Stamford Bridge, while Christopher Nkunku has had injury problems and seems to have slightly fallen down the pecking order.

Is Viktor Gyokeres the striker Chelsea need?

Although Gyokeres looks like a player with bags of ability, it does perhaps seem a tad risky for these big Premier League clubs to be relying on him to come in and become their main man up front.

There is, unfortunately, just no guarantee that Gyokeres will look anything like the same player once he leaves Portugal for English football.

Darwin Nunez shone at Benfica before looking a lot less convincing at Liverpool, while there have been other examples of top players who simply couldn’t quite adjust to the English game.

Still, Chelsea could do with a striker, so if there’s a deal to be done there for Gyokeres it makes sense that he’s at least one of the names being considered.

Arsenal and United also surely need to strengthen in that area, with the Gunners relying too much on Kai Havertz up front even though that’s not necessarily even his best position.

United, meanwhile, have invested a lot in young forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, but both are struggling to live up to expectations so far.
