It’ll probably come as little surprise to many that Ruud van Nistelrooy is being linked with a host of top Premier League jobs.

The Dutchman is now looking for a new role after his short tenure as Manchester United interim manager came to an end.

Van Nistelrooy caught the eye after taking over from Erik ten Hag, warming up the dugout for Ruben Amorim with three wins and a draw from four matches.

United scored 11 goals in his four games in charge; two more than they managed in Ten Hag’s final eight matches.

Van Nistelrooy’s work has now seen him linked with West Ham United, who are struggling under summer arrival Julen Lopetegui.

Meanwhile, relegation battlers Wolves, Southampton and Crystal Palace are among those who are rumoured to be considering new managers. The likes of Steve Cooper and Sean Dyche are only a bad run away from coming under immense pressure at Leicester and Everton, respectively.

However, former Palace chairman Simon Jordan has warned Premier League clubs against opting for Van Nistelrooy — who won KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield titles during a 51-game spell in charge of PSV Eindhoven.

“If you are Wolves, Palace, Southampton or Leicester and you decide to change your manager, would you look at Ruud van Nistelrooy or would you look at David Moyes?” said Jordan (via TBR).

“I couldn’t see any of those clubs realistically going down the Ruud van Nistelrooy route.”

Jordan further explained: “I don’t think he’s done anything at Man Utd. Three or four games, two of them against Leicester? Against PAOK, in the Europa League? Come on, give me a break.

“I don’t think there is anyone in the Premier League who has got a serious problem is going to turn around and say; ‘You managed to get this [Man United squad] playing decently [so you deserve a chance at another club]’.”

Manchester City remain innocent until proven guilty of any of the 115 charges being levied against them, however, their Premier League opponents will sue them if they are, ultimately, found guilty.

The fall out from the case which is currently ongoing could change the face of English football as we know it.

Man City could be sued for many millions by EPL clubs

An unprecedented punishment against the Cityzens has already been mooted, with other potential avenues for taking the serial champions down a peg or two also being discussed.

Arguably, any and all discussions are irrelevant at this stage given that City haven’t yet been found guilty of a single charge.

Given the severity of the charges, it will take some time before any decision is reached in any event, and were the outcome to be unfavourable to City, there’s some certainty to the club launching an appeal, delaying the outcome even further.

According to The Times (subscription required), a number of Premier League clubs are reserving the right to seek compensation for lost earnings were City to be found guilty.

Man City’s former financial advisor had a lot to say about the outcome of the ongoing trial. Find out what he said here!

Essentially, some clubs will have been denied the right to finances that a title win would’ve seen them achieve, and/or the prize money involved in qualifying for the latter stages of European competitions.

There is a need for those clubs to protect their positions now given that its understood they could be time barred from doing so if they wait until the end of the trial and/or a subsequent appeal.

Any potentially successful cases against City would cost the club many millions of pounds, though the loss of prestige would be far more humbling for the club.

Such scenarios may not even come to pass if City’s legal team manage to ensure that the club’s name, and that of their directors emerge successfully from the case.

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo was among the big names to make the Premier League team of the week after his superb display against Manchester United at the weekend.

The Ecuador international is one of the most improved players in the Premier League this season, and he scored a superb volley to earn Chelsea a point at Old Trafford in Sunday’s big game.

Caicedo ran the show from midfield and makes sense as an obvious pick for team of the week, as he continues to justify that big price tag the Blues paid to sign him from Brighton.

It took a little while for Caicedo to get going at Stamford Bridge, but there’s no doubt that he’s now one of the most important players in the team, and this surely won’t be his last team of the week appearance this season.

Discussing Caicedo’s performance, Deeney said: “His performance in Chelsea’s draw at Manchester United was arguably his best game for the club.

“Highly thought of…” – Chelsea are convinced this player has a “bright future” but fans surely won’t agree! Click here to find out more.

“I know people think it is about his goal – and it was a wonderful strike – but he was all over the place, putting his foot in, making loads of fouls, ratty tackles.

“He got on the ball more too and was braver, playing it forward. I thought he was miles better than he has been.”

Elsewhere in Troy Deeney’s line-up, Tottenham get two players in after their impressive 4-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Unai Emery’s side have not been easy to beat for some time now, and it looked like they might be heading for a win in north London after taking the lead, but Spurs overpowered them with a superb comeback late on.

Three Bournemouth players also made it in after their surprise 2-1 win over Manchester City, while Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon is also in there after his part in the Magpies’ win over Arsenal.

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has been linked with a possible switch to Southampton during the upcoming January transfer window.

According to a report from Saints Marching, Bamford could make the switch to the Saints on an initial six-month loan as he looks to rejuvenate his career following a challenging period at Elland Road.

Southampton, currently languishing near the bottom of the Premier League table with just one point from their opening eight matches, are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements.

With only six goals scored so far this season, the Saints are searching for options to improve their offensive output and escape the relegation zone.

The 31-year-old Bamford, who is approaching the final stages of his contract with Leeds—set to expire in the summer of 2026—has seen limited action under new Leeds manager Daniel Farke this season.

His diminished role, combined with Leeds’ failure to secure promotion last season after losing to Southampton in the Championship playoff final, has sparked speculation about his future.

Patrick Bamford’s time at Leeds United

Bamford, who joined Leeds in 2018 for a then-record fee of £7 million, quickly established himself as a key player for the Whites.

During the 2019-20 season, he played a crucial role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League, scoring 16 goals. In his first season back in the top flight, Bamford netted 17 league goals, finishing joint-fourth in the Premier League alongside Heung-min Son. Since joining the club, he has scored 60 and assisted another 22 in 284 games across all competitions. (Transfermarkt)

However, Bamford’s recent seasons have been hampered by injuries which has impacted Leeds. Farke himself recently admitted that had the striker been fit last season, the club would have been successful in their promotion bid.

A move to Southampton could offer the striker an opportunity to regain form, while providing the Saints with much-needed experience and firepower upfront.

With the player now desperate to leave the club and, Leeds also reportedly open to part ways with him, a January move is likely. it remains to be seen whether Southampton can successfully secure the signing of the forward in the upcoming transfer window.

Former Premier League striker and BBC pundit Alan Shearer has slammed the officiating during the Southampton vs Leicester City game on Saturday.

The game was a 5 goal thriller which saw Leicester come back from 2 goals down to win 3-2. Cameron Archer gave the Saints the lead inside 10 minutes, before Joe Aribo made it 2-0 just around the 30-minute mark.

Facundo Buonanotte got the Foxes back into the game in the second half and ten minutes later, they were awarded a penalty after Ryan Fraser fouled Vardy, which the VAR thought was denying a goal-scoring opportunity. Fraser got sent off and the Leicester striker, who could retire at the end of this season, buried the penalty to make it 2-2.

Leicester City completed the turnaround right at the death, with Jordan Ayew scoring the winner in the 98th minute of the game.

Alan Shearer slams Anthony Taylor’s officiating during Southampton vs Leicester City

Alan Shearer criticised the officiating during the game, suggesting that Saints should have been awarded a penalty as well.

The incident in question was when Paul Onuachu was appeared to be fouled by the Leicester player, who held on to him for several seconds. Shearer did not hold back of his criticism of Anthony Taylor’s decision.

When asked on MOTD if Saints should have had a penalty, he said (as quoted by Daily Echo):

“Absolutely…the word we’re hearing is Anthony Taylor saw the holding, but it was with no consequence.”

“It was deemed he was not impacting play. He’s got hold of him for about five seconds, which means he has to be impacting play. There has to be a consequence.”

“If he’s not holding him there’s every chance he’s going to challenge for that ball, he may even get there before the keeper. I think that’s a really poor decision by the referee and VAR.”

Arsenal defeated Southampton 3-1 on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium and the clash saw the Gunners face one of their former teammates Aaron Ramsdale, with Mikel Arteta unveiling what he said to his former player after the full-time whistle.

The Spaniard’s team would surprisingly go behind in the match but that did not last long as Kai Havertz equalised three minutes later before Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka would add two more to earn Arsenal the three points.

Ramsdale was forced to make multiple stops throughout the 90 minutes at his former home and after the full-time whistle, the goalkeeper embraced several of his former teammates.

There was also a hug for Arteta and the Gunners boss revealed to the press after the match what he said to the 26-year-old shot-stopper.

“I wished him all the best,” Mikel Arteta told the media via Sky Sports during his post-match press conference. “I wish him the best and I hope they do [stay in the Premier League], especially for their manager and Aaron as well because they are a very good side.”

Aaron Ramsdale’s time at Arsenal

Ramsdale joined Arsenal during the summer of 2021 from Sheffield United before spending three seasons at the Emirates Stadium. The 26-year-old racked up 89 appearances for the Gunners, keeping 32 clean sheets along the way.

The Englishman became a key part of Mikel Arteta’s dressing room and played a major role in the North London club going close for the title during the 2022/23 campaign.

The arrival of David Raya from Brentford resulted in Ramsdale’s minutes being reduced massively and although he would have loved to have stayed in London, the goalkeeper opted to join Southampton this summer in order to play regularly.

How does the song go? — £60 million down the drain, Kai Havertz scores again.

The German has once again lived up to the chant the Arsenal fans have given him.

The former Chelsea playmaker has dragged the Gunners back onto level terms against Southampton.

Kai Havertz cancels Southampton’s opener out

Saints forward Cameron Archer, who was subbed on for Ross Stewart after 27 minutes, fired Russell Martin’s side into an unlikely lead.

However, hitting back almost instantly, the Gunners, thanks to a clinical run and strike from Havertz, are back in the game at 1-1 and favourites to go on to take all three points.

Havertz’s 58th-minute equaliser today is his fourth in the Premier League this season and 20th as an Arsenal player.

Aaron Ramsdale‘s three-year spell at Arsenal came to an end this summer as the goalkeeper completed a move to Southampton and fans of the Gunners should have respect for the Englishman’s reason for leaving the Emirates Stadium.

The 26-year-old joined the North London club in 2021 from AFC Bournemouth and went on to become a key member of Mikel Arteta‘s squad as Arsenal went close to winning the Premier League title during the 2022/23 campaign.

Last season the Gunners fell just short of becoming champions of England once again but this time, Ramsdale’s role was different.

The English shot-stopper featured in just six Premier League matches following the arrival of David Raya from Brentford. Four of those were before the Spaniard arrived, while the other two were against the Bees star’s parent club.

This highlights that Rasmdale was firmly a number two at Arsenal and that was not good enough for the 26-year-old.

Former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale just wants to play

Southampton and Ramsdale travel to the Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal this weekend and ahead of his return to North London, the goalkeeper has revealed why he left the Gunners.

“There’s not many people that I have personally met that have said ‘I wanted to win the Premier League as a kid by sitting on the bench’. As much as that would be amazing and you are in a team environment,” Ramsdale told Sky Sports.

“If I finish my career and I have played 10 years in the Premier League with four or five hundred games, or I played 150 and I won two Premier Leagues and an FA Cup by not playing for Arsenal, I would much prefer the first option.

“It was very difficult to leave that football club but when it came down to it, all I ever wanted to do was play and that is what I am doing now and I’m grateful to Southampton.”

This should earn Ramsdale respect amongst Arsenal fans as many players in modern football would have been happy sitting on the bench and collecting a paycheck every week.

The 26-year-old has ambitions to return to the top of the game and in order to do that, the Englishman needs to be between the sticks every week for a Premier League club.

Graham Potter is being lined up to replace Russell Martin at Southampton.

The 49-year-old has been out of work since leaving his role at Chelsea but could be set to make a Premier League return if Martin, 38, does not improve the Saints’ results.

Potter was given just seven months at Stamford Bridge but US billionaire owner Todd Boehly’s patience ran out following a series poor performances.

Given the huge changes the squad went through, fans may feel the former Brighton boss was treated harshly in London though.

Graham Potter tipped to replace Russell Martin at Southampton

Nevertheless, although his reputation has taken a slight knock with how things went at Chelsea, Potter is clearly still admired by top clubs with the latest tracking him being Southampton.

According to Football Insider, Potter, who spent half a season at St. Marys’ during his playing days, is one of the club’s shortlisted candidates to take over from under-pressure Martin.

The Saints sit 18th in the table after managing just one draw from their first five games, and failure to turn results around soon will guarantee Martin is the first Premier League manager to be sacked.

For Potter, the possibility of replacing Martin is not the only opportunity he’s linked with. The Solihull-born tactician is a candidate to replace Sean Dyche at Everton. The ex-Burnley manager is under major pressure at Goodison Park amid Dan Friedkin’s talks to take ownership from Farhad Moshiri.
