Everton boss Sean Dyche is ready to drop Jordan Pickford if the England international’s poor form continues according to reports.

The Toffees have endured a disastrous start to the campaign and have lost all four of their games and sit bottom of the table.

Pickford has conceded 13 goals already this season and Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa was the second consecutive game in which Dyche’s men have thrown away a two goal lead.

Dyche ready to drop Pickford

Everton are seemingly facing a tough battle to stay in the Premier League this season and it appears Dyche could be set to make some big calls.

According to The Sun the former Burnley boss is ready to drop Pickford if his form doesn’t improve and Dyche is believed to be unhappy with his displays.

The report adds that Dyche may move for Newcastle’s Nick Pope, who he worked with at Burnley in January if Pickford’s form doesn’t improve, with the 30-year-old now under scrutiny at Goodison Park.

Pope could be available in the upcoming windows with the Magpies believed to interested in Burnley’s James Trafford.

Pickford and Everton have had a poor start to the season.

It would be a shock change given Pickford has been the club’s number one since he arrived from Sunderland in 2017 for £30m.

Pickford has made 284 appearances for Everton, keeping 77 cleans sheets and has established himself as England’s number one.

However, Everton do find themselves in a desperate situation which could call for action if things don’t improve quickly.

Leeds United set for double fitness boost ahead of key Burnley clash

Leeds United are set for a major boost following the international break with the returns of Daniel James and Patrick Bamford.

James scored in Leeds’ 2-0 win over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday at the end of August but sat out their last match against Hull City — with United winning by the same scoreline in his absence.

Bamford, meanwhile, suffered from various fitness issues throughout pre-season and has been restricted to just 22 minutes across two substitute appearances in the Championship this season — missing the Sheffield Wednesday and Hull games.

Leeds United set for double fitness boost

Leeds have looked much improved in recent weeks, taking seven points from their last three games without conceding a goal. That comes after the Whites drew their first Championship game of the season 3-3 at home to Portsmouth before being thrashed 3-0 at Elland Road by Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup.

Up next is a home clash with fellow promotion hopefuls Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

While it’ll be a challenging fixture, Leeds are unbeaten in their last five matches against the Clarets across all competitions.

And their hopes of another important victory will be boosted by the return of both James and Bamford.

James missed the international break with Wales due to a knock. However, Leeds Live

have reported that both he and Bamford will at the very least be fit enough to make the bench this coming weekend.

Bamford would be unlikely to start even if he were fully fit but can provide a change of approach from the bench, while James’ pace and threat in the final third will prove a valuable weapon for Daniel Farke.

Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri is set to complete a move to Championship side Burnley according to Fabrizio Romano.

United are expected to be busy in the last few days of the window with both incomings and outgoings as they look to finalise Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Scott McTominay could be on his way to Napoli after the Italian side agreed a fee with United, but he’s not the only midfielder who’s set to leave the club.

Hannibal set to complete Burnley

United are still looking to add to their options in midfield and are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Paris Saint German for Manuel Ugarte.

However, Romano has reported that Hannibal is set to leave the club and complete a switch to Burnley.

The move was expected to be a loan with an obligation to buy, but Romano has now stated it’s a permanent deal.

He took to X.com and said:

“Hannibal Mejbri completes medical today at Burnley and joins on permanent deal instead of loan with obligation to buy. Man United requested change as funds will be received earlier and deal will also include a sell-on clause. Here we go!”

The Tunisia international joined United’s youth set-up from French side Monaco in 2019 and made 13 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.

Hannibal has had several loan spells during his time with the Red Devils and spent the 2022/2023 season with Birmingham City and spent the second half of last season with La Liga side Seville.

His time in La Liga didn’t go to plan and Hannibal only made six appearances whilst Seville didn’t take up their €20m option to buy.

The Whites are in talks with the Championship club over a deal for the 27-year-old Belgian, who is keen on making the switch to Elland Road.

Benson, who joined Burnley from Royal Antwerp in the summer of 2022, made an immediate impact during his debut season, scoring 13 goals and providing 5 assists to help the Clarets secure promotion to the Premier League.

With Leeds having to sell some of their major stars in order to keep their heads above water and stay on the right side of Financial Fair Play, they could now be about to benefit from a Championship rival’s attempts to do similar.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Joe Donnohue, writing on X (formerly Twitter), the all whites have a genuine interest in Burnley’s Manuel Benson.

There is the issue of Leeds being a direct rival in the Championship of course, and this could well scupper their bid to land Benson, but if Burnley need him to go, then the will of the player is likely to ultimately decide where he ends up.

Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, will be hoping for a change of luck in the transfer window, after having to sell both Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter.

Man United star Hannibal Mejbri is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer and talks have begun with Burnley over a loan deal for the 21-year-old talent.

The Clarets are showing an interest in the midfielder and according to Fabrizio Romano, talks have started with Man United to try and get a loan deal over the line this summer.

With Mejbri’s contract at the Manchester club expiring in 2025, the loan deal will contain a mandatory buy clause as the Red Devils will want to receive a fee for the youngster.

The transfer journalist states that nothing is close between the two English clubs but the Championship side have reached out to Man United and the player to see if a deal can be done for the 2024/25 campaign.

The signing of Mejbri could be a very good move for Burnley should they extract the full potential out of the midfielder but that is something nobody has achieved with the 21-year-old so far.

Why are Man United open to selling Hannibal Mejbri?

The main reason Man United are selling Mejbri is his expiring contract in 2025 but they are not willing to offer the midfielder a new deal as he has failed to impress at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old joined the Manchester club’s academy in 2019 and the Tunisia international arrived in England amid a lot of hype around his talent. However, the youngster has failed to show his true potential at Man United and did not impress on loan at Sevilla this year either.

Mejbri showed a glimpse of what he is capable of at the beginning of last season in back-to-back performances against Brighton and Burnley, but could not produce it consistently for Erik ten Hag.

If Burnley can get that version of the midfielder most weeks they will have signed a top talent, however, that is a challenge for Scott Parker to try and complete if the 21-year-old arrives at Turf Moor before the transfer window shuts.

Another transfer window, another period whereby Chelsea appear to be the protagonists and headline makers.

In the current window, it’s the Conor Gallagher and Joao Felix situation that’s been making all the headlines, as much as anything else, and one has to question why the Blues would even be contemplating bringing a player back that, even now, is considered as a bit of an enigma.

Gallagher, like Trevoh Chalobah, appears to be being eased out of Stamford Bridge as their sales would represent pure profit for the club given that the pair are academy products, though Chelsea’s odd decision making wouldn’t appear to end there.

Chelsea allowing Bashir Humphreys to leave

According to The Athletic (subscription required), the Blues are now willing to allow highly-rated defender, Bashir Humphreys, to move to Championship side Burnley on loan with an obligation to buy.

At just 21 years of age, Humphreys – who spent time on loan at Swansea City – has a lot of growing to do as a player, but that seems of no consequence to Enzo Maresca and his board.

It does beg the question, once again, of what on earth the West Londoners are playing at?

Their transfer policy under Messrs. Eghbali and Boehly seems to be haphazard at best, and one has to wonder just how badly Maresca’s plans will be affected over the course of the first part of the season.

Chelsea weren’t at the races against Man City at the weekend, and the poor level of the overall team performance even apparently saw Todd Boehly leave Stamford Bridge early.

Will the owners ever be able to stop their meddling in the transfer windows and let the first-team staff just get on with things?

Fulham are in the market for a new central midfielder and the London club have submitted a £20m bid plus add-ons for Burnley midfielder and Man United target Sander Berge.

Marco Silva is looking to replace Joao Palhinha in his squad after the Portuguese talent departed for Bayern Munich this summer.

Fulham’s top target appears to be Man United’s Scott McTominay and according to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, talks are ongoing between the two Premier League clubs over the midfielder but they have yet to come to an agreement over a transfer fee.

The Manchester outfit are believed to be happy to keep the Scotland international for the 2024/25 campaign, given his importance to Erik ten Hag last season, and will only consider offers if the 27-year-old makes it clear he wants to go.

It remains to be seen if McTominay opts for a new challenge away from Old Trafford but with so little time left in the transfer window, Fulham have started working on alternative targets.

According to Sky Sports, the Cottagers have submitted a £20m bid plus add-ons for Burnley’s Sander Berge, who is also a target for Man United.
