Caoimhin Kelleher has reportedly informed friends that he is ready to leave Liverpool in 2025 as the Ireland international would like to be a number-one goalkeeper at another club.

The 25-year-old made his Liverpool debut in 2019 and has been tremendous in deputising for Alisson over the last six years.

The Irishman has gone on to make 55 appearances for the Merseyside club, keeping 19 clean sheets. This is a lot of football for a number two goalkeeper but the shot-stopper has benefitted from the fitness issues of Alisson.

Kelleher has always stepped up for the Reds whenever called upon and did so once again on Saturday as Liverpool required the 25-year-old to make some big saves in the first half as they went on to defeat Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield.

However, a decision this season showed why he needs to leave the Merseyside club at the end of the season.

The Ireland international has made eight appearances for Arne Slot’s team so far this term and having been given a taste of a starting role again, the goalkeeper is ready to leave Anfield in 2025, having already admitted the interest of clubs this summer.

According to Football Insider, Kelleher has already told his friends that he plans to part ways with Liverpool at the end of the current campaign, which is the best outcome for both parties.

Liverpool will seek £30m to sell Caoimhin Kelleher in 2025

With Georgi Mamardashvilli set to arrive at Liverpool next summer, this is the right time for the Reds and Kelleher to part ways as the Irishman deserves a starting role at a good club.

With a contract set to expire at Anfield in 2026, the Merseyside outfit will seek between £25m-£30m for the 25-year-old next summer with the report naming Celtic as one interested club. Others may become interested in the Reds star over the coming months as it is unlikely that they will sell the shot-stopper for the price being mentioned.

The 2025 summer transfer window will be a huge one for Kelleher as it is a period that could define the rest of the Irishman’s career.

Brentford are keen on a move for Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn, as they consider options amid strong interest in Bryan Mbeumo. The 24-year-old has been in sublime form for the SPFL Premiership champions this season, and that continued in midweek when he scored twice in the Champions League victory over RB Leipzig at Celtic Park – he was also awarded the player of the match award by UEFA for his performance.

In the SPFL Premiership, Kuhn has registered three goals and five assists, while he has recorded a further 11 goal involvements across other competitions (three in the Champions League, eight in the Premier Sports Cup).

Kuhn has a slowish start to life in Glasgow after joining from Rapid Wien at the start of 2024, but he has kicked on this season. Because of this, it is no surprise that clubs in the Premier League are taking interest in his services.

Celtic set reasonable asking price amid Brentford interest

According to TBR Football, Celtic are reluctant to sell Kuhn, although they would be prepared to accept any offer of at least £25m – this would be a significant profit for The Celts, who paid only £3m to bring him over from Austria.

In the event that Brentford do sell Mbeumo next summer, which they would likely do so for a figure in excess of £50m, they would be more than capable of affording Kuhn. This would be bad news for Celtic fans, who have quickly fallen in love with the former German U21 international.

It’s one of the stranger football club and music mogul links, however, it does appear that Snoop Dogg wants to invest serious money in Celtic Football Club.

Clearly taking his cue from the success of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s buyout of Wrexham, Calvin Broadus Jr – to give him his real name – has clearly seen a financial opportunity.

Snoop Dogg wants to invest in Celtic

Intriguingly, an historical image of the rapper in Celtic garb has resurfaced on social media.

“I love what Ryan has done with Wrexham – it’s just a great story,” he said to the Daily Record/Sunday Mail.

“Investing in a sports team has been something I have been looking at for a long time – if the chance came to invest in Celtic, I would be crazy not to take a look at it.

“I have watched so much soccer in Europe but I have never seen fans like the Celtic fans. There is something so special about them.

“There is a reason why their fans are talked about across Europe – the best players and coaches in the world tell you there is nowhere like Celtic Park and I want to be a part of that.

“Their mascot is a hound – you couldn’t make that up. Snoop Dogg becomes Hoopy the Hound – that’s gotta be a match made in heaven. The headlines write themselves.”

It isn’t clear at this stage how whether Celtic would be amenable to any such investment, though Snoop does have broad worldwide appeal and so could sell the Celtic brand into different territories and areas in the same way that Reynolds and McElhenney have done.

Celtic remain a huge name in Scottish football of course, so any investment would surely need to be a significant one in order that the Hoops can be taken to the next level.

After conceding a penalty just before the break Celtic pushed relentlessly after the break but the Highlanders were resolute and the clock ticked down before Alistair Johnston’s deflected a Callum McGregor shot with his right thigh to level the score.

Then Johnston turned provider sending Nicolas Kuhn away down the right hand side before the German winger cut inside and placed the ball into the corner of the Ross County net to secure the three points with just two minutes of the ninety remaining.

Brendan Rodgers’ side saw that and the seven minutes of added time out comfortably. Celtic are now three points ahead of Aberdeen who play Hearts this afternoon and eight points clear of the theRangers who play St Johnstone at 8pm this evening at Ibrox. Philippe Clement’s side really cannot afford to drop any points.

Celtic are a goal down at the interval in Dingwall in the Scottish Premiership early kick-off against Ross County after conceding a penalty just before the break…

The Scottish Champions had the vast majority of possession but lacked a cutting edge while the home side were happy to sit in and prove that there’s always a chance to park the bus and get something at the other end.

That happened after a VAR intervention on a Liam Scales handball correctly identified a handball. Kasper Schmeichel, who needed a clean sheet to break a club record in going seven league matches at the start of the season without conceding, saved well but had moved off his line.

A retake was the correct decision and this time young Irish striker Ronan Hale hammered the retake low and hard into the same corner to give Ross County a shock lead. Hale is of course a Celtic supporter but his goal is currently causing major concern for the Hoops.

Celtic supporters will be looking for a vastly improved second half showing.

Brendan Rodgers yesterday outlined his commitment to Celtic’s playing style and confirmed that it would not change, even after the 7-1 defeat in Dortmund on Tuesday evening in the Champions League. Chris Sutton offers the Celtic manager some advice…

Celtic’s ambition should be applauded as the Scottish Champions went toe-to-toe with the Bundesliga side who reached the Champions League final last year. However at 5-1 down at the interval few Celtic supporters were appreciating the wisdom of Celtic’s attacking philosophy against all-comers.

Both Manchester City and Chelsea were beaten by Celtic in the summer tour of the United States and the likes of theRangers and Hearts have been easily swept aside in the Scottish Premiership. The Champions League opened with a brilliant 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava and next up was Dortmund. Could Celtic’s thrilling football rattle the German side packed full of star players?

Well, the answer was as emphatic as the scoreline. Next up in the Champions League for Celtic is Atalanta away and Brendan Rodgers is determined to do it all over again, perhaps it will work against the Europa League holders, who knows?

Yet while there was optimism ahead of Dortmund, the Celtic support is perhaps looking for a more cautious approach against Europe’s elite sides and that includes Atalanta.

Today in his weekly newspaper column in Daily Record, Chris Sutton put forward an interesting proposal that should at least be worth of consideration.

Perhaps it will take one or more bad results before it filters through to Lennoxtown or perhaps Brendan Rodgers will be shown to be right in Italy and we can all put Dortmund down as a bad day at the office.

“It’s not tough to understand why Rodgers would consider taking the risk at kick-off of trying to impose that on to Borussia,” Sutton wrote in Saturday’s Daily Record. “He clearly felt Celtic’s football could be better than Dortmund’s press. And vice versa. You can argue the rights and wrongs of that with hindsight.

“What can’t be argued is that, very quickly, it was apparent Celtic were not able to impose themselves and, indeed, the polar opposite was taking shape. That’s the moment when you have to address it because being adaptable in-game is crucial,” Sutton pointed out.

“Listening to him afterwards, I got the impression Rodgers did see it, but the players had lost their way in that painful first-period demise and the slide was irreversible, but someone had to sort it.

“I’ll use an example of Arsenal. Most of us would agree they are an aggressive, offensive team who are easy on the eye when things are working for them. But Mikel Arteta and his players seem quick to understand when a tide is turning against them. The most obvious example came this season when going down to 10 men against Manchester City.

“At that point, Arsenal changed their plan. They got ugly at the Etihad. Simply put everyone behind the ball as they devised in-game that it was their best chance to get a result. They were 30 seconds from winning by keeping out City a full half of football.

“My point is that Celtic, when the waves started crashing against them and it became clear Borussia were in the mood, just kept doing the same things and kept doing them progressively worse. Players have to act sharper and smarter. Get streetwise, be mucky, break the game up, stop the opponents. Don’t just keep making the same mistakes.”

Perhaps understanding after the 7-1 defeat in Dortmund on Tuesday night in the Champions League, Brendan Rodgers was pre-occupied with the aftermath and post mortem from that horrible result to spent too much time talking about Celtic’s game in Dingwall against Ross County…

The Celtic manager can only answer the questions that he’s asked and it took until the final question in Friday’s media conference before he was asked about Sunday’s tricky match in the little town in the Highlands.

On Ross County, Rodgers as usual had done his homework. “We’ve seen them play in the sort of 3-5-2 structure from the build-up, they’ll go direct up to the strikers.

“Young Ronan Hale has done well coming in from Cliftonville, scoring three goals in seven games. He’ll have an enthusiasm to play against Celtic I’m sure.

“They’re always tough games on a tight pitch. We’ll have a great support there and we aim to get back on track with a high performance level,” the Celtic manager said.

Ross County have lost eleven consecutive matches against Celtic in all competitions going back to February 2021 when the Highland side pulled off a 1-0 victory during pandemic season when no supporters were allowed into games.

Celtic have lost just one of their last 17 away games against Ross County with 14 wins, two draws and one defeat. In their last ten games Ross County have won just once in a 2-0 win over Dundee last month. They have drawn six and lost the other three games.

Celtic have won all six of the league matches played so far this season without conceding and should Kasper Schmeichel keep a seventh clean sheet in Dingwall he will break a club record.

Back in August, Cowie became the first Ross County boss in the club’s unbroken ever to inflict a defeat on Rangers – new or old – and it was costly for Philippe Clement’s title chances.

The Belgian ungraciously declined the opportunity to shake hands with Cowie that afternoon as the Scottish Premiership title race swung in Celtic’s favour. Over the years Ross County has had a good few league wins over Celtic, but not with Brendan Rodgers as manager.

Admittedly Celtic have played the Highland side more often as theRangers after the old club was liquidated, started again in the fourth tier of Scottish football.

Celtic’s perfect domestic record

Celtic will take the field in Dingwall with a perfect domestic record so far this season, having won all league and cup matches with Kasper Schmeichel yet to pick the ball out of the net in the Scottish Premiership.

The Great Dane got plenty of practice on Tuesday night at the Westfalenstadion where Dortmund hit Celtic for seven. That result perhaps gives Ross County some grounds for optimism as Celtic could be shaken by the experience. Add in the travel and the sheer effort in trying to go toe-to-toe with last season’s Champions League finalists and Celtic could be more vulnerable than perhaps Cowie could have hoped for.

The free hit for Ross County theory

For many pundits north of the border it’s seen as a free hit for County. Nothing is expected from them and they can play with a freedom against an opponent still on the ropes after their traumatic night in the Rhineland. That’s a theory that Cowie himself is quick to dismiss.

“There’s no such thing as a free hit,” the Ross County boss said, with the Highland club’s official website. “We understand it’s a challenge. They’ve been in excellent form domestically and in Europe, bar Tuesday. But it’s a challenge we need to embrace and look forward to.

“They’ve scored a lot of goals and they’ve not been breached in terms of conceding a goal in the league but we always believe we can hurt the opposition we play against and score goals. That’s the opportunity that comes to us on Sunday.

“I think your mindset has to change when you come against a team like Celtic.

Celtic FC – threats all over the pitch

“They’ve got threats all over the pitch, they’ve got a clear identity in the way they play, they’re all in sync in terms of their movement, so you have to have top concentration levels.

“You might think you’ve nullified something within their team but there will be another aspect that they’re also very good at. It’s a real challenge but it’s one you’ve got to enjoy and embrace.”

Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon refused to blame Brendan Rodgers for the 7-1 Champions League defeat in the iconic Westfalenstadion last night against Borussia Dortmund…

Instead Lennon points the finger at the Celtic players who played right into Dortmund’s hand and made it a much easier night than anticipated by last season’s beaten Champions League finalists.

I expected them to give a good account of themselves

“I didn’t expect them to win,” Lennon told TNT Sports. “I expected them to give a good account of themselves given the form they were in.

“They let the game get away from them. They were passive, far too passive with passing, didn’t do the dirty business of the game well enough, weren’t physical enough, too nice and they didn’t turn Dortmund at all.

“They kept playing the same way. The results were the same – goal against, goal against, goal against. Eventually, when the game got to 3-1 I am expecting someone to get grip of the team and say ‘ok, let’s have 5-10 minutes in their half, let’s get Maeda into it, let’s turn them, let’s get a corner or a throw’ – there was none of that.

Celtic played right into their hands

“They kept playing the same way – passes into dangerous areas and they kept getting picked off. Dortmund are an outstanding team but they have their flaws – particularly down the right hand side, but Celtic played right into their hands constantly.

“They have got to learn quickly. Celtic were exposed tonight. They have got to say ‘we can’t do this away from home against top teams, we have to find another way of playing at times’.

“You can’t keep blaming the manager,” Lennon said. “Celtic have got a top manager in Brendan Rodgers. Yes, he wants his team to play football. He said before the game they would suffer at times, and they were suffering.

In the end it was little tippy-tappy passes

“What you do when you are suffering is you take the heat off you can get your wide men into the game and use the pace that Kuhn and Maeda have; didn’t use that anywhere near enough. In the end it was little tippy-tappy passes through the midfield.”

Peter Schmeichel made his presence felt in Dortmund last night working for broadcaster TNT where his son’s current side Celtic were the visitors to the legendary Westfalenstadion…

Before the match he had a chat with Brendan Rodgers, amusingly more as a father rather than as a pundit, then after the 7-1 hammering gave his son Kasper advice on the role he should now play in the Celtic dressing room. And to round it off he interviewed Dortmund’s hat-trick hero Adeyemi, telling him: “I’ll never forgive you for what you did to my boy today!”, before praising the Dortmund forward’s brilliant performance against Celtic.

“I spoke to Kasper after the game,” admitted Peter Schmeichel. “I said ‘this was a bad day at the office and nothing more. You concede seven goals. I did this once in my life and you can come away from the game thinking you probably couldn’t have done much about all seven, but I still conceded seven and my job is to stop the goals. Of course, you’re going to look at it.

“Take it and move on, be one of the leaders in the dressing room and help everyone else learn from this.’ Because up until this point, let’s not forget, Celtic have played really, really good football, and there is so much optimism at the club. You need to go through what happened, but it was just a bad day at the office.”
