On Thursday of this week, Arsenal stalwart, Jack Wilshere, will begin a new chapter of his career at Norwich City, where be becomes first-team coach.

Wilshere, 32, has most recently been the Gunners U18 coach, a role in which he’s been successful, taking the youngsters to an FA Youth Cup final in his first season. He even gave a 13-year-old a debut in the youth side.

According to The Standard he’s moving to the Canaries to further his coaching ambitions, and Arsenal’s loss will almost certainly be Norwich’s gain.

Jack Wilshere will join Norwich as first-team coach

It’s abundantly clear why the Championship club’s first-team manager, Johannes Hoff Thorup, wants Wilshere as part of his backroom team too.

“We have to make sure we have people in the building that would be interesting for other clubs,” he said to BBC Radio Norfolk, reported by The Standard.

“We are about to build something special, and an environment and a culture and way of playing that is exciting, so people want to be here.

“And people from outside look at the people here and that’s a good connection to have because it creates some interest and it creates some excitement and that’s what we want.”

At present, Norwich find themselves in seventh position in the English second tier, five points behind joint leaders Sunderland and Leeds United.

With plenty of time to go in the season Norwich have ample opportunity to overhaul the teams above them, and Thorup will clearly be hoping that Wilshere’s input will energise the players to push on from their current placing.

For Wilshere himself, this move could be seen to be the next stage in his career on the sidelines, with the ultimate aim of becoming a first-team manager in his own right.

He did previously apply for the Aberdeen first-team manager’s job, but Neil Warnock and then Jimmy Thelin were handed that particular responsibility.

According to a recent report from The Athletic’s Art de Roche, Wilshere is close to being appointed Norwich City’s first-team coach.

This news comes after Narcis Pelach recently left the Canaries to become manager of 17th-placed Stoke City.

Should Wilshere reach a total agreement with Delia Smith’s side, he will join Johannes Thorup’s backroom staff in what would be a significant appointment, both for the club and for the ex-Arsenal playmaker.

The Canaries currently sit seventh in the Championship table and are looking to win promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since their relegation in 2020.

Leicester City striker Tom Cannon is the subject of interest from four Championship clubs with a £5m bid already tabled, according to reports.

A product of the Everton youth system, Cannon joined Leicester at the end of the 2023 summer transfer window.

However, the one-time Republic of Ireland international missed a portion of the season with a back injury, while the form of the likes of Jamie Vardy, Stephy Mavididi and Patson Daka meant his opportunities were further restricted.

Cannon played just 13 times in the Championship and 16 times across all competitions totalling 600 minutes, but still managed three goals and two assists during that time.

What’s more, a previous loan spell at Preston North End in 2022/23 that yielded eight goals and an assist in 20 Championship appearances was enough to make it clear just what he can deliver at that level.

Four Championship clubs chasing Leicester striker Tom Cannon

That’s according to Football Insider, who report that no fewer than four Championship clubs are in the race to sign Cannon before the closing of the transfer window on Friday.

Hull City have apparently already tabled a £5m offer for the 21-year-old, but Leicester are holding out for £7m.

The Tigers are understood to be joined by Sunderland, Sheffield United and Norwich City in the race for Cannon, who hasn’t featured for Leicester this season having been an unused substitute against Tottenham and failing to make the squad at all against Fulham or Tranmere.

Cannon’s contract at the King Power Stadium runs until the summer of 2028, meaning Leicester will feel no need to sell the striker on the cheap as the end of the transfer window approaches.

Leeds United are set to lose Georginio Rutter to Brighton this summer and the Yorkshire club have their eyes set on a €10m replacement out of Sweden.

The Championship club have seen several of their best players from last season depart for Premier League clubs this summer with Rutter now set to follow Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville to the English top flight.

Brighton have activated the £40m release clause in the French forward’s contract and the 22-year-old will be a big miss at Elland Road.

Rutter featured in 51 games for Daniel Farke’s team during the 2023/24 campaign, producing eight goals and 16 assists across all competitions. Whoever comes in to replace the forward has big shoes to fill and Leeds have their eyes on the Swedish league.

According to Marc Mechenoua, Leeds are in talks with Swedish side Hammarby IF over a deal to sign their striker Jusef Erabi this summer but face competition from fellow Championship side Norwich City.

Discussions are ongoing over the 21-year-old and the clubs have been informed of the conditions of the deal and the player’s price tag. It will cost €10m to lure the Swedish talent away from his home nation, with this asking price unlikely to cause any problems.

Erabi is a highly-rated talent in Sweden and has scored seven times so far this season in the country’s top flight. The forward has been with Hammarby for his entire career and it looks like he could be about to secure a big move to England over the next two weeks.

Leeds United are preparing a bid for Stoke City winger Million Manhoef as they identify possible alternatives to Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe, according to reports.

The Whites’ failure to secure promotion straight back to the Premier League last season has led to them losing a number of key players, with Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, Glen Kamara and Luis Sinisterra all leaving for substantial fees, while Wilfried Gnonto continues to be linked with a move away.

Naturally, this has left Leeds in dire need of reinforcements. It was thought the Yorkshire side had Norwich star Rowe top of their wishlist after the England U21 international posted 13 goals and four assists in 38 appearances across all competitions last season.

However, according to TEAMtalk, the Canaries have slapped a £15m price tag on Rowe, which has put off fellow suitors Marseille, while his reported refusal to play against Oxford United on the opening weekend of the Championship season may have left Daniel Farke having doubts.

TEAMtalk reports that Leeds are now turning their attention to Manhoef.

Million Manhoef of Stoke City celebrates scoring his team’s third goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Stoke City and Bristol City at Bet365 Stadium on May 04, 2024 in Stoke on Trent, England.

The former Netherlands youth international only joined Stoke from Vitesse in the previous transfer window but made an immediate impact for the club, with four goals and an assist in 14 Championship appearances.

Leeds are thought to be among a trio of Championship clubs — the others unnamed — who could move for Manhoef, who could command a £10m transfer fee with Stoke very reluctant to sell.

Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark is closing in on a permanent move to RB Salzburg as the two clubs are close to agreeing a deal for the midfielder.

The original plan for the 19-year-old ahead of the 2024/25 campaign was to offer Clark a new deal at Liverpool before allowing the youngster to leave on loan to gain some experience, however, things seem to have changed.

According to DAVEOCKOP, RB Salzburg are closing in on a deal for Clark as former Liverpool coaches Pep Lijnders and Vitor Matos are extremely keen to work with the player again.

Last season was the midfielder’s biggest at Anfield as he was one of a group of youngsters who helped Jurgen Klopp through a tough period at the start of 2024.

The 19-year-old would come on in several Premier League games and was one of the young talents that helped beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.

The upcoming campaign is a big one for Clark’s development and with the midfielder having a strong relationship with Lijnders, there is belief that under the former Reds coach, the player can reach his full potential.

Liverpool’s Bobby Clark set to reject up to 12 Championship clubs

With Clark set to move to Austria this summer, DAVEOCKOP states that it will result in the youngster rejecting up to 12 Championship teams. Bristol City, Portsmouth, and Norwich are believed to be among them, which makes the Englishman’s decision to leave his home country even more impressive.

The decision to go to Salzburg will be the right one for Clark’s career as it will be an experience living away from home comforts and playing for the Austrian side allows him to compete in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Along with Lijnders being there, that will play a big part in the 19-year-old’s decision, as Liverpool prepare to part ways with one of their more talented youngsters.

According to Football Insider, the Merseyside club have opted not to let the player leave permanently and feel that a loan spell could aid the player’s development having had a breakthrough campaign last season.

The 19-year-old was handed his Liverpool debut in 2022 as he came on as a substitute during a match in which the Reds hammered Bournemouth 9-0 and has gone on to feature 14 times for the Premier League giants since, scoring one goal and assisting a further two.

Last season was Clark’s biggest at Anfield as a group of youngsters helped Klopp through a tough period at the start of 2024.

The midfielder would come on in several Premier League games and was one of the young talents that helped Liverpool beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.

The upcoming campaign is a big one for Clark’s development and it remains to be seen where he will spend it as RB Salzburg’s new head coach Pep Lijnders is keen to have the 19-year-old join him in Austria.

What clubs are interested in Liverpool’s Bobby Clark?

The report states that RB Salzburg are interested in taking Clark on loan having had a £6m bid rejected for the 19-year-old already this summer. Former Liverpool coach Pep Lijnders is keen to work with the midfielder again and that could play a big factor when it comes to the player choosing his next club.

Leeds United and Norwich City are also said to be keeping an eye on the Liverpool star but are yet to make official moves for the youngster.

Clark missed out on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States due to injury and is currently working his way back to full fitness. Once this is complete, the midfielder will likely decide on his next club with this next step being huge for his career at Anfield.

The loss of Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United will only be measured by how badly Leeds United miss him during the course of the 2024/25 Championship season.

One of the best players in the English second tier last season, there’s little point in anyone connected with the club still wondering what might have been as far as the 22-year-old Dutchman is concerned.

The all whites were always going to have to sell their crown jewels this summer, and that much was obvious from the moment the whistle blew at the end of the Championship Play-Off final.

Now it’s down to Daniel Farke to inject some positivity into the squad and bring in those players that will get the club back up to the Premier League at the second time of asking.

Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has told Give Me Sport that one of the Elland Road outfit’s targets is Norwich City’s brilliant left winger, Jonathan Rowe.

Back at the beginning of the year, West Ham were monitoring Rowe according to The Standard, and Leeds might consider it a victory of sorts if they’re able land the player.

Leeds United are expected to sign a new forward before the transfer window closes on August 31st.

According to Football Insider, the club is actively searching for a suitable replacement for Crysencio Summerville, who recently joined West Ham.

The Whites have been linked with several players, including Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe. The report states that Leeds have already had a bid for Rowe rejected by The Canaries. To secure the versatile attacker, Leeds will need to present an improved offer.

Rowe would be a great signing for Leeds

Jonathan Rowe is known for his versatility, capable of playing on both wings and as an attacking midfielder.

In 56 Championship appearances for Norwich, the 21-year-old has scored 13 goals and provided 5 assists. (Transfermarkt)

Rowe was a key player for Norwich last season, helping them reach the play-offs, although they were ultimately defeated by Leeds United in their bid for promotion.

Despite the setback in their pursuit of Rowe, the report adds that Leeds United are confident in their ability to secure a top-quality replacement before the deadline. As the transfer window draws to a close, fans and stakeholders will be closely watching the club’s moves to bolster their squad.

After Norwich City’s 4-0 thumping of Leeds United at Elland Road on Thursday night, manager David Wagner has been fired by the club.

The Championship team has sacked its manager, according to the BBC.

In the second leg of their play-off semi-final, Leeds defeated the Canaries 4-0 at Elland Road, bringing the hosts closer to a return to the Premier League.

Prior to a third consecutive season in the second division, the Norfolk club has decided to part ways with Wagner after he led them to a sixth-place finish and a chance at promotion.

The club is anticipated to make an official statement later on Friday.

After Dean Smith was replaced in January 2023, Wagner assumed leadership but found it difficult to compete in the Championship.

Even though they were ranked 17th in November, Norwich won eight straight games at home to finish sixth and secure the last play-off position.

David Wagner Norwich City Championship
David Wagner has been sacked by Norwich City.

After leading Huddersfield to the Premier League in 2017, the manager was hired in January 2023 with the intention of repeating the feat at Carrow Road.

Ben Knapper, Norwich’s sporting director, will oversee the hiring procedure now.

Knapper, who formerly managed loans at Arsenal and had a good working relationship with Edu, will also have to handle anticipated bids for important players like Jonathan Rowe and Gabriel Sara, who are both highly regarded by Premier League teams.

Norwich City could appoint Arsenal coach

Wagner joined the Championship club after leaving Huddersfield and spending time with Schalke and Young Boys.

In addition to Steve Cooper and Liam Rosenior, Norwich has been linked to Arsenal coach Carlos Cuesta as they look for Wagner’s successor.

Having spent three years in the Championship, Norwich have to make some tough decisions now if they are to get promoted to the Premier League.
