Newcastle United have reportedly agreed to let defender Harrison Ashby leave on loan.

The Magpies are keen for the 22-year-old full-back to spend another season out on loan following his recent stint with Swansea.

Set to return to the Championship, Ashby, according to Football Insider, will join QPR for the 2024-25 campaign.

Expected to feature heavily for QPR, Ashby’s improved playing time could see him return to St. James’ Park better placed to rival the likes of Kieran Trippier and Tino Livramento for a place in Eddie Howe’s starting 11.

Although Ashby has yet to feature for the Magpies’ first team, he has played for their under-21s where he has made a great impression, scoring one goal and registering one assist in just two appearances.

Liverpool are ready to allow left-back duo Calum Scanlon and Owen Beck to leave Anfield this summer as the Merseyside club are happy with their options for the role.

Arne Slot is set to finalise his squad at the Merseyside club over the coming weeks and there could be several outgoings at Anfield before the transfer window shuts as a number of youngsters search for minutes ahead of the new season getting underway this weekend.

Liverpool have already loaned out Calvin Ramsay to Wigan this summer while also selling Fabio Carvalho to Brentford as part of a £27.5m deal.

This week is set to be a crucial one for the futures of several of Liverpool’s young stars and it could see left-back duo Calum Scanlon and Owen Beck depart Anfield on a temporary basis.

According to DAVEOCKOP, Bristol Rovers have shown interest in Scanlon who has only made two senior appearances for the Reds since joining the Premier League giants academy in 2020.

Millwall are also interested in the 19-year-old talent but that loan move is not as likely to happen.

The same outlet also reports that Beck is close to leaving Liverpool this summer as Celtic want to sign him on a permanent deal. Leeds and QPR are also interested in the defender, with a move to London looking the most likely at the moment.

The 22-year-old has played just 18 minutes in total for the Reds’ first team and at this stage of his career is unlikely to break through at Anfield.

Arne Slot set on his left-back options at Liverpool

Slot will use Andy Robertson as his starting left-back at Liverpool throughout the upcoming season as the Scotland star has held the role for many years now. The 30-year-old has missed the majority of the Reds’ pre-season preparations through injury, which could result in him not playing from the off against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Kostas Tsimikas looks like he could start against the newly promoted Premier League club and has shown since his arrival in 2020 to be a capable backup for Robertson.

The duo are to be trusted by Slot for the 2024/25 campaign which is why Scanlon and Beck will be allowed to leave over the coming weeks.

Newcastle United are preparing to send Isaac Hayden out on loan ahead of the new season.

Having spent last season on loan with Standard Liege and QPR, the Magpies midfielder appears to have no future in Eddie Howe’s first-team plans.

However, still with two years left on his contract, which, according to Spotrac, includes a £22,000-per week wage, getting Hayden off their books permanently is proving problematic for the northeast club.

Championship trio chasing Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden

Consequently, another loan move looks to be on the cards. According to the Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Championship trio Hull City, West Brom and former loaning side QPR are among those most interested.

A return to Loftus Road could be the 29-year-old’s preference having spent the second half of last season there. The Chelmsford-born midfielder, who is also eligible to play internationally for Jamaica, started 12 Championship games under Marti Cifuentes and is understandably wanted by the Spaniard again.

Nevertheless, with Hull City and West Brom both also in the mix to sign the outcasted midfielder, fans must await the player’s final decision ahead of Friday’s first round of Championship fixtures.

During his time at St. James’ Park. Hayden, who joined from Arsenal’s youth academy in 2016, has scored seven goals and registered 10 assists in 171 games in all competitions.

News that Liverpool are open to offers for their left-back will surely rock supporters back on their heels.

The Reds have been amongst the quietest teams so far in the summer transfer window, and arguably players coming into the club should be foremost in the minds of those in charge of the first team.

Liverpool could allow Owen Beck to leave the club this summer

As of this moment, despite any rumours or links, there is a distinct lack of incoming transfer news, with the only piece of potentially confirmed business relating to Owen Beck.

According to Sky Sports, both Celtic and Queens Park Rangers have registered their interest in the left-back, with the former happy to do a permanent deal and the latter aiming for a loan arrangement.

Any deal will not be rubber stamped until Liverpool return from their pre-season tour of the USA, though it isn’t clear exactly how much the Merseysiders will want to receive for his services.

Buying clubs will expect him to be competitively priced given that he’s behind Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas in the pecking order, and former Reds manager, Brendan Rodgers will almost certainly be looking for a favour from his old employers.

From Beck’s own point of view, a permanent move away may well be preferred given that he’s already had a loan spell at Dundee, though his final destination and type of move clearly depends on a number of factors.

With almost a month left of the current window, Liverpool have plenty of time in which to be able to evaluate any offers, and the club have the luxury of being picky given that there’s no apparent need to sell the player at this point.

Queens Park Rangers are close to completing the transfer of Juventus defender Gianluca Frabotta, according to reports.

Frabotta is a product of the Bologna youth system but joined Juventus in the summer of 2019, originally linking up with the club’s U23 team.

The left-back — who can also play as a centre-back — made his senior debut for the Old Lady in a Serie A match against Roma in August 2020 and has since increased his total for the club to 18 appearances across all competitions, notching a goal and an assist.

Frabotta has enjoyed loan spells at Hellas Verona and Frosinone since joining Juventus, playing 22 times in Serie B during the latter stint.

Frabotta to replace Kenneth Paal at Loftus Road

Frabotta has entered the final two years of his contract and doesn’t appear to be in the plans of new manager Thiago Motta.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio (via Football Italia), QPR are on the verge of signing the 25-year-old — who was capped 15 times for Italy across various youth levels.

The report states that Frabotta’s representatives are already in London to iron out the final details of his move to QPR, who are themselves completing the sale of existing left-back Kenneth Paal to fellow Championship team Watford.

Frabotta joins a QPR side that spent much of the 2023/24 Championship season in the relegation zone but rallied to win eight of their last 14 matches to climb to 18th place.

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has been spotted training in the Middle East as he prepares to leave the club this summer.

Hayden joined Newcastle back in 2016 from Arsenal and has made 171 appearances and scored ten goals for the Magpies.

The 29-year-old still has two years left on his contract but hasn’t featured for the club since 2021, and has been frozen out of the first team.

Hayden preparing to leave Newcastle

Hayden spent last season on loan at both Belgian club Standard Liege and Queens Park Rangers, whilst he also spent the 2022/2023 season on loan at Norwich.

The midfielder made ten appearances in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League without scoring or assisting, and made 17 appearances in the Championship for QPR without registering any goal contributions.

Hayden has been out in Qatar and took to Instagram to show that he has been training hard ahead of the new season.

Hayden spent part of last season on loan at QPR.

Newcastle World report that the Magpies could look to terminate Hayden’s contract which means they wouldn’t get a transfer fee for the player.

QPR are believed to be interested but the report adds that the terms must be right for them if they are to do a deal.

Newcastle World state that like last season Hayden will train away from the first team when pre-season training begins if a move away hasn’t been sorted.

It’s set to be a busy window for the Magpies who have sold Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson in order to comply with profit and sustainability rules.

Miguel Almiron is set to leave St James’ Park and is believed to be on his way to the Saudi Pro League with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq interested, whilst there have been reports suggesting that England international Anthony Gordon could be joining Liverpool.

Scotland striker Lyndon Dykes revealed he nearly made it back to fitness in time for the European Championships but just missed out.

The QPR man was set to be Steve Clarke’s starting No.9 at Euro 2024 as Scotland take on Germany, Hungary and Switzerland in Group A.

However, Dykes — who has nine goals to his name in 36 international caps — picked up an ankle ligament injury last week that left his chances of participating almost non-existent.

Despite working his hardest to return in time to make the squad, Dykes just couldn’t regain enough fitness. Heartbreakingly, the striker will likely be available for QPR when they start pre-season, but will need the entire tournament period to recover.

“It wasn’t a crazy one but just annoying enough to miss the tournament,” Dykes told BBC Sport, adding: “It’s been really tough for me and I tried my best to make it, but I went to see the Scotland medical team and they ruled me out and that was that.”

Dykes still to travel with Scotland Euro 2024 squad

Although he cannot participate on the field, Dykes has come to an arrangement with QPR that will allow him to travel to Germany with the Scotland squad while continuing his rehabilitation.

The striker is hoping he can offer some support to his international teammates and is keen to help in any way possible as the Tartan Army seek to make it past the group stage of a major tournament for the first time in their history.

“Because it was so close, I want to go out with the boys and I’ve got that option to be with them and be around,” said Dykes.

“I want to be out there and not dwelling on the injury. Maybe I can give a bit around the backroom.”

Scotland face hosts Germany in the opening game of Euro 2024 in Munich on Friday evening.

QPR have announced that they have signed 18-year-old Jack McDowell after the defender was released by Aston Villa at the end of the season.

The youngster has spent his whole career with the Birmingham club but that came to an end this season as his contract expired. Villa didn’t feel the need to offer the player a new one and as a result, McDowell needed to find a new club.

According to QPR’s website, the London side have signed the 18-year-old and he promises to be a potential first-team player down the line.

That may come during the upcoming campaign, depending on how the centre-back develops, having made 12 competitive appearances for Aston Villa’s Under-18’s last term.

There are set to be many changes at Villa Park this summer as the Premier League club prepares to return to the Champions League and it seems that McDowell was a victim of the Birmingham outfit’s growing status in English football.

Jack McDowell “excited” about switch from Aston Villa to QPR

Speaking about his transfer to QPR, McDowell has expressed his excitement about moving to Loftus Road.

“I’m excited,” the defender told the Championship club’s website. “The opportunity came to trial with QPR for a week and I really enjoyed it.

“I really liked the players, the facilities, the coaches and all the staff. Then I was lucky enough to be offered a deal and it was an opportunity I had to take.

“Now the aim is to do well for the Development Squad – pushing to train and play with the first team. There is a lot of hard work ahead of me, but I know it’s something that I can achieve. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Newcastle are reportedly interested in the signing of Asmir Begovic as they search for a new back-up goalkeeper but will face competition from several sides.

After a disappointing season overall for Eddie Howe’s side, Newcastle fans will now turn their attention to the summer transfer window as they hope for some new faces.

As a result of Champions League football putting much more of a strain on Howe’s side, the English manager had to deal with a host of injury issues, highlighting their weak depth.

One of these injury issues occurred in the goalkeeping department when Nick Pope suffered a shoulder injury during his side’s 1-0 win against Manchester United in December.

The English shot-stopper was sidelined for the rest of the season with Martin Dubravka stepping up in his place.

According to reports from West London Sport, it seems like Newcastle is interested in bringing in Begovic as back-up to Pope for next season.

The 36-year-old is currently playing for QPR in the Championship and has a wealth of experience under his belt in England’s top-flight division.

Begovic’s contract is set to expire at the end of the month with QPR reportedly keen to tie him down on a new deal.

But they may find it difficult with the report claiming that not only Newcastle but West Ham and Celtic are interested in his signature.
